7th San Joaquin Coming June 20
The new "owner" of the Amtrak San Joaquin service will be adding a 7th daily roundtrip beginning June 20. The revised schedule, which includes other changes in addition to the new BFD-OKJ train, has been loaded into Amtrak's system, although new public timetables have yet to post.
This is the first frequency augmentation since 2002, and reflects the eagerness of the San Joaquin Rail Commission, which assumed responsibility from Caltrans for managing the service, to make quick improvements.
The Amtrak California San Joaquin service will now consist of 5 daily roundtrips BFD-OKJ along with 2 daily roundtrips BFD-SAC, along with numerous dedicated feeder bus connections that are offered as part of the train service with through ticketing and guaranteed connections.
