Do you need to register before purchasing the ticket to be eligible, or just register prior to riding?

You need to register before the promotional period ends.

Registration is retroactive and any trips taken during the promotional period would automatically qualify for the double points promo at the moment of registration.

What do that have to do with Amtrak Guest Rewards?

Or is that just a referral spam link?

Max of two one-ways per day

Today I'm riding two short hops on the Keystone, and then a longer trip on the Acela. I notice that the terms and conditions say that a maximum of two one-ways will count per day; AGR Insider, do you know which two would count for any given day? Would be the first two trips in order during the day, or the first two to post to my account, or another method? Naturally I would like the Acela segment to count for double over the Keystone segment, but the Acela segment is the last (third) ride of the day.

It is the two that post first, IME.

What you need to do in this situation is have a Keystone ticket that does not have your AGR number on it, and then manually request missing points later.
