I see they have a 500 point sign-up bonus if you take a ride within 90 days. Does that stack with the 500 point referral bonus?

No, this just allows another user to get 500 points too. Either way the rider will get 500, the referral just lets you share the love

Late to the game. Just had to take Amtrak for the first time, family of 4, after our flights got cancelled on Friday. Is this still retroactive after the trip to sign up and get bonus points?

Not sure, according to the terms I don't think so:

"In order to qualify, the referred member must enroll and take a paid trip on Amtrak in the 90 days following enrollment."

That being said, I sent a PM if you want to give it a shot!

I'm not sure if the person doing the referring will still get their bonus points. But you have 21 days, IIRC, after a trip to sign up and then call up AGR to get your points for the trip.

Please know that you only get points for you ticket, not your family's tickets. They'd each need an account to earn points on their tickets.

I'm looking into it. I signed us all up for accounts but started with mine first, then referred to family members.

thanks for the help. Oh and BTW, Amtrak wont let you request points added until a week after the trip.
