Transferring miles via AGR

Hi

I have 15000 onepass miles which when I convert to AGR and then on to choice priviledges will equate 45000 points. The problem being to transfer miles from AGR to choice you need special status. Can I get this from transferring my onepass miles or does it have to be points earned on train travel.

I am gutted as its the only way I will get to use these miles. otherwise they will go to waste

You can't convert out of AGR unless you are an AGR Select or Select + member.
Or have the AGR Credit Card from Chase with $200 spent on Amtrak travel.

This restriction only applies to points/miles being transfered out of AGR and not gift cards or certificates.

You could redeam them for one night at a Level 2 Starwood property.

Thanks climbguy, kind of annoying cause I was hoping to get three or four night accommodation using choice, I have been saving miles and tesco points and using reward cards for the last two years to try and take my family to the states for three weeks. so far I have enough to take four of us in club world class with BA, and I was trying to get a few nights hotel accommodation as well

Yes, strangely enough, Amtrak's frequent-traveler program, like most others, is designed principally to reward those who frequently travel.

Maybe AGR should become like most other loyalty programs, and just not allow the free transfer of points, so people won't get hit with this annoying limit.

Hi, I'm new to AGR.
This thread doesn't surprise me.
Do you think that $200 travel spend would include buying food on the train, as well as stuff from their Amtrak store or Travel Gift Certificates?

Thanks for the answer.
Here in this part of the southeast,IMHO, there is relatively little use for Amtrak. When I travel to the northeast, there is no problem meeting the minimum spend.
But sooner or later, I'm gonna find myself joyriding on the Crescent.

Are transfers from CO usually with AGR by sunday night/monday morning?

I did a transfer of 15K on Friday Sep 24 and still nothing in my AGR account.

As I have not done a Onepass to AGR transfer for nearly 2 years, just wondering if things have changed.

CO to AGR Transfer....

I did a CO to AGR transfer 2 weeks ago on Friday. I had done this numerous times in the past and expected that it would be there on Monday as it always was. It did not process until the following Wednesday. I friend of mine did a transfer this past Friday and his has not been done yet either. I assume that they have made a change to the process and I believe Wed. is the new day.

Hope this helps!

Remember that AGR is currently in the middle of a complete changeover of staff, and they're redoing basically the entire operation. This may have caused the delay. (Actually, AGR in its entirely is going to be unavailable until this Friday at 8am.)

I did a CO-to-AGR transfer on 9/22 and it has not yet gone through. (Just adding a data point.)

Thanks for replies - I forgot about the AGR revamp - more than likely this has something to do with delay - let's just hope the miles dont get lost in cyberspace due to revamp
