Starwood Transfer Bonuses [September 2011 = 25%]

Receive 50% more Starpoints when you transfer to Starwood Preferred Guest through September 22nd 2009. Normally 3 MR points = 1 StarPoint. Now 2 MR points = 1 StarPoint. Transfer Now.

Worthless Amex MR points? With Aeroplan as a US transfer partner? How can I take those points off your hand?

Don't forget the bonus miles that are awarded when you transfer Starwood points to one of their airline partners. So you certainly lose some points / miles along the way, but Starwood is a great way to get miles on airlines not hooked up with MR.

Talking I jumped on this one...

Sadly I had over 330,000 MR points before I became educated and got the Starwood Card. I have been hoping for this 2:1 deal to reappear. This transfer will get me over the 1 million mile mark with American Airlines and I can lock in lifetime gold status. Thanks for sharing this. It made my night. I am so glad to finally be rid of those MR points.

Net is still only 0.625 miles per dollar...

$40,000 spend
=40,000 Membership Rewards
=20,000 SPG
=25,000 AA (or similar)

This may get you to Gold on AA (which might be your overarching desire), but don't overlook gleff's post above.

Aeroplan has some pretty good business class awards, and has the Star Alliance behind it. 330K Aeroplan points will get you pretty far...

By the way, if its now 667, that's not 50% more, that's 100% more. So someone had better read the Ts&Cs.

It's 1000:500 not 1000:666

They had this as an error rate in Australia last year.

1 AUD = 1.5 MR Points = 0.75 SPG points. So about 1 SPG point per 1 US$.

What is normal for a SPG Amex card holder gets us excited down under.

I had never heard of aeroplan before reading this post, so I'm now trying to figure it out - I went to the aeroplan website - is it strictly a site for redeeming points? Is there a way to book one seat using points, and pay another on this site? I get that I can transfer my MR points to aeroplan 1:1; just don't know how to use the site.

Thanks for any help - and for the op about 2:1 transfer to SP.

Aeroplan was part of Air Canada until it was spun off as a stand alone company a few years ago. Air Canada is still its main travel partner, as are the other Star Alliance airlines. You can redeem Aeroplan points for travel here: http://www.aeroplan.com/adr/use_your_miles.do

The AC/Aeroplan forum on FT is here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-canada-aeroplan-375/ They can answer any other questions you might have.
