Amex Business Gold 3x Bonus Categories - MPX code as airfare?
 

I have the Amex Gold Card, I want to maximise earnings, What are the current best options?

I have heard somewhere that its best to select airfare, use MPX app and purchase giftcards, these code as airline and we get the bonus for United and Airlines for Amex MR.

Does this strategy still work and what are best sellers to purchase from on MPX App?

How recently? This POST from early 2016 indicates that American Express changed this, and MPX transactions are not coded as airfare.

That ship has sailed, unfortunately.

I found a 7-11 that sells gas and that takes credit cards for MasterCard gift cards, but it looks like my AmEx Business Rewards Gold card is not crediting me with bonus points for a gas purchase, even though on my statement the charge is described as GAS/MSC97. Anybody have any luck in getting bonus points by purchasing a gift card from a 7-11 that sells gas?

Did you click the transaction to see details? What does it say on the line that begins Category: ?

I guess that's the reason. When I click on Category it says: "Category: Merchandise & Supplies - Groceries" even though the description says GAS/MSC97. Bummer - I thought I was onto something when I bought the gift cards.
