This thread is a continuation of discussion which began HERE in 2011.

Referrals and self-referrals are an important part of churning Canadian-issued American Express cards. It is appropriate to discuss how the referral process works in this thread. However, please do not offer or request referrals here.

Use only this thread, and do read the Wikipost carefully before posting:

Referral Offers (post only in this thread, no referral links, read Wiki post first).

JerryHung: I figure I'll include all CURRENT AMEX Canada offers here (no referral links) for anyone curious about what the bonus and fees are
This is not an all-inclusive list, only the "good" offers, so feel free to add new offers

AMEX Platinum - $699/year, 60K MR (via referral) after $1000 spending in 3 months vs. 50K non-referral

AMEX Gold Rewards - $150/year, FYF, 25K MR after $500 spending + $50 cashback from GCR

AMEX Air Miles Platinum - $65/year, FYF, 2000 Air Miles after $500 spending + $30 GCR cashback

New as of 2014/10/09
AMEX Business Gold - $250/year, FYF, 30K MR after $5000 spending (or 40K via referral)

AMEX Business Platinum - $399/year, 40K MR after $5000 spending (or 50K via referral)

Platinum cards are sent via expedited service. You should get them within a week. I usually get mine within a couple days. Once i think it even came on a Saturday

I see you on the RFD thread too?

Yes, Plat/Gold/BizGold are the Premium AMEX cards and arrive in 3-5 BUSINESS days

Other ones - Air Miles, Aeroplan etc... - are non-Premium and 7-10 business days

You'll get yours in time to book & use the $200 credit (even for 2015)
Whether one can double dip the $200 again in 2015, is very YMMV so it seems

Processing is very fast once approved. I recall a friend I referred received his card within days of approval.

The credit shows up in the statement billing which would be in January 2015 for a new account starting in December 2014. Thus it is unlikely you'd get two such credits during 2015 even if you made the travel purchase in December.

I got mine within a week.

You can give them a call after you submit your application if the approval is not instant, so they can process your application faster.

I saw it somewhere on this thread. Tell me when you find it, I am about to apply for the card as well.

Wait six months at least to be safe before you reapply.

Has anyone sent a referral link recently? I just tried and.. curiously the referral link just sends the receiver to the Main AMEX Website. Incredibly odd. My friend still applied under that guise, who knows if I'll ever get credit for this. I'd be pretty disappointed if it didn't work properly.

Just tested my own link (generated previously), no issue

the format should be

A few months back I self referred from the Amex Plat to the Amex Biz Plat. I received both the 15K referral and the 40,000 welcome points. The welcome points took a few months and a couple of inquiries.

Earlier in this thread there was some question as to whether this self referral would work so I thought I would confirm it worked for me.

Link generation is disabled, no way the referral will trace through the system without the specific hyperlink. I wonder what they are working on, fortunately I do have my old links all running.
