If true, this sort of rubs me the wrong way.
It is $245 for a new EXP.

Considering Admiral's Club for the first time - based on the 30% off.

If my wife pretty much ONLY flies along with me, is there any value in getting the "with Spouse" membership? ... considering the Single membership allows "Up to two guests (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age) may accompany the member."

How about a child over 18? Is a separate membership and/or day passes only way to get them in with you?

•Members are limited to two guests or immediate family
members (i.e., someone residing in the same household as the
member, including childcare and healthcare providers).
•Guests and immediate family members must be accompanied
by the member at all times.

What's not clear is that every other reference I've read specifies under 18 years of age. Not sure why there should be any distinction if you're allowed up to 2 guests in any case. Anyway, I'm not seeing a reason for having a "with spouse" membership in my circumstances regardless, so I suppose it doesn't make a difference.

Right from the membership privileges page :
* Up to two guests (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age) may accompany the member

Right from the membership FAQ :
Can I bring my family into the Admirals Club lounge with me?
A: Yes. Members are limited to two guests or immediate family members during their visits. Immediate family members are defined as spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age.

No trouble here... but if your spouse only flies with you, IMO there is no reason to get a spousal membership as well - the spouse is already covered. If a spouse flies alone with any degree of frequency, it might pay to secure a spousal membership - if once or twice annually, a day pass may be more economical.

Are AC's offering the discount in house already, or any further discounts than the 30% off?
