Wink question about seat selection on flight next week

I HATE middle and window seats, and always pay extra for an aisle seat when booking--
I just booked a flight today for DCA, and only seats showing available for purchase were middle seats. I booked without paying for seats, is there any chance for me to get an aisle, or even worse, any chance I will be stuck in a window?
I dont fly much anymore, and I dont have status any longer, so this kind of stuff trips me up.
Thanks so much!!

Check periodically, but be sure to check in at 24 hours before flight time. seats usually open at that time. And continue checking up until boarding - things are often changing.

actually a miracle just happened--I had to call AA about something else, and the agent said "you are being so nice and pleasant that I just did something for you "--she had given me aisle seats!!
So I guess it pays to be nice. Im in sales so I always have folks being mean to me so i try to be as nice as possible.

It was probably because you told the agent it was your honeymoon.

now I did not. flying by myself to DCA alone for night would not be a good honeymoon

but seriously such a nice thing to do, I usually pay for those seats

For next time, use Expert Flyer. The free version doesnt offer too much, but it does support any-aisle seat alerts.

Not necessarily; not all the aisle seats require payment. There's a comprehensive blog post about AA's "Preferred" seating system (they block a lot of seats for OneWorld/AA elites) from TPG:
https://thepointsguy.com/2016/03/cho...irlines-seats/

So right at 24hr out, you can get online and hopefully get a seat you like.
