Flying 1980s Style (757 no IFE, no WiFi - merged threads)

Flew ORD/MIA this evening on a 75L with the new J seats. Of course what I don't understand is why AA ripped out the AVOD. Of course no tablets given out on this flight.

Lead FA makes an announcement " For those of you too young enough to remember days before wifi this is what flying was like in the 1980s. No wifi and no in seat entertainment,"

On a positive note she served full PDBs and bashed the lAAzy FAs that refuse to do so. She said she was "old school" when it came to service.

Hey I'll take lack of AVOD/WiFi/entertainment if it means old school service and non-lazy FA's.

Heh, my favorite are the aircraft that either were not installed with IFE or had the IFE ripped out but still have those awful entertainment equipment boxes.

International excepted-I relish '80s style. No phones, no e-mails, no texts.

What AVOD did they rip out?

This is the old angled J seat, with the screens ripped out?

OP said new J?

Confused as to what plane this is.

Sat on a 763 with new Y seats no IFE but the box underneath the seat in front of you. Ridiculous!

Oh pleeezzzz. The audio (click the dial around through the multiple channels) with the music coming through the airtube headphones was great IFE ^ Of course, how your ears felt after hours of the headphones - priceless.

I will happily trade IFE/Wifi for a full PDB, every time. ^

I occasionally fire up the Wifi to get a connecting flight status. But I can live without that in exchange for a PDB!

I almost never use the airline's screens for anything. On an international flight, maybe the map once in a while.

I wouldn't want my employee representing my company that way.
IMO, quite inappropriate.

LAA 757 with new lie flat J seats. The in seat AVOD is gone. Supposedly tablets are given out on International flights. Replaced by something (I should have taken a pic) that looked like cars back in the 1960s that did not come with a factory installed radio and instead a metal plate. Truly bizarre.

Of course everyone in the J cabinet was asking about this strange set up. The lead FA said "we now have so many configurations of the 757 we never seem to know what we will be flying."

I flew this bird up front the other day Phx-Phl. No wifi but the seat circa 98 was great and tons of legroom. Nice experience!

Then tell your employer to quit being cheap you know what's and give the customer what they want. FA's have to take the blame for AA's incompetence, they should deal with it anyway they want that makes the customer happy.
