Top 30 AA Stations

The "Surprising Airports with No Lounge Access..." thread got me thinking ... can we compile a current list of the 30 largest AA stations in order by number of flights (including Eagle)? My guess is it would start with DFW, CTL, ORD, MIA, but I don't have data to back that up, nor do I know where the remaining hubs fall and what the largest non-hub outstation are.

I think the list is a good idea however the passenger count might matter more... For example, I think MKE receives 15 or so AA flights per day and LHR receives 18, however, MKE is CRJs and smaller aircraft but LHR is all widebodies, so there are much more seats on the route making LHR a more valuable airport.

True ... maybe two lists then? :-)

Also, I'm sure AA ranks its hubs and outstations based on revenue. Which are AA's most valuable (revenue-generating) stations? I believe EZE is one...probably NRT.

And how do you determine this rank? Tickets sold in the market? Revenue at ticket counters?

Very easy to do with a Diio subscription...would you like mainline departures only, mainline + regional, or also include codeshares (i.e. AA operated by AS, BA, QF, CX, LA, etc, etc)

If one were looking at this, seems to me passenger count is the relevant issue and mainline + regional is the relevant combination, and codeshares are excluded.

Then, there is the questions of O&D vs connections ....

As a general point, with the size and scale of the big three legacy carriers now, a 50+ daily departure station is hardly unique anymore. A decade ago, a station the size of SNA/SFO/BOS would have an outsized rank and be notable as those are/were markets that AA has historically been strong in. With the sheer size and scale of the network today and nine domestic hubs it's not as significant of a distinction. The top-30 stations in most cases are the Top 30 MSAs, but their relative ordering varies based on operational, historical strength, etc.

To what end? Why such a specific number (30), and specific needs for mainline+regional? Just curious.

The end would be 30. As far as your questions, I don't have specific answers as to why I chose those parameters other than that's what interests me, and I'm the OP. If you're interested in other metrics or parameters, call them out and maybe someone can help with yet another list.

SEA Admirals Club above gate A7 closed in 2005 and is now a UA club. SEA is an affiliate agreement with AS, the Amex Centurion Studio and of course there are several Priortity Pass lounges. (plus BA but they're notorious for denying access to OW elites traveling solely on partners)

CMH's position shocked me. Had no idea they had that many flights.
