No more beeping carts at CLT

Looks like the concourses at CLT will be a bit quieter. Interesting that it's usually quicker to make a connection in a wheelchair than in an electric cart:

Perhaps I won't need to renew my Admiral's Club membership now. One of my reasons to sign up in the first place was to have a peaceful place to wait away from those noisy things.

DFW is much different from CLT. Much wider, much longer and much more spread apart. CLT was just not designed to handle them. Also I found the drivers to be rude. They thought they didn't need to take a passenger even when told to.

It looks like it is the 6th busiest for takeoffs and landings, but 31st for passengers.

I wonder if it has a high takeoff and landing count because of cargo or lots and lots of small airplanes?

Looks like it's because it has lots and lots of small passenger and small private airplanes.

Takeoff and landings don't have to be commercial flights.

I learned to fly at UND in Grand Forks, ND. Due to the large aviation program, at the time GFK was somewhere around 20TH busiest US airport.

When I read the title I thought, great, now they'll run me over in silence.

Seriously, the hallways in CLT are way too narrow and crowded for carts. Good riddance.

What they really need to do is stop all of the people that are waiting to board from crowding into the hallway. If there are two flights apart from each other boarding at the same time it is ridiculous.

Detroit - the new McNamara terminal that is now 15 years old - has nice wide, straight concourses and never used beeper carts. They were always a choice, not a necessity. CLT's move shows that.

Never said they were a necessity. Just that DFW is better designed to handle them.

Sorry to hijack a CLT thread, but at least the ones at DFW don't have the recording "dee doo dee doo An American Airlines Passenger Service Vehicle is approaching; please step aside" playing non-stop like they did way back when (early 90's or so <?>)
