Indeed. Regardless of your opinion on made-to-order guacamole, there was apparently a line for it. So evidently some of AA's customers were quite impressed, which is the important thing.

I just don't see the point of a line forming while a person peels and chops avacodo one by one for each person rather than making a batch in the kitchen and putting it out. But I guess that's just me. . The AC is not even close to a restaurant so I prefer speed and convenience. ..I don't expect gourmet anything and even at a restaurant I don't expect everyone at the table to want their guacamole prepared a different way. I'm not objecting to guacamole. ...it's great. I don't want to wait in line to have it prepared especially for me.
If it were to become an everyday, permanent fixture, I will be in your camp. But as a temporary special promotion, like the omeletts, I think the custom fresh was the better approach.

I have heard rumors of these sorts of pop-up things occurring in ACs...looks like they've actually come to fruition.

There was no choice but to wait in line! I have only had a restaurant make it at our table once...and even they did not make each person their own custom guac ....it was made in a batch for the table. That's all I am saying---no package or frozen. Just make enough fresh for several people--it doesn't need to be customized. It's not that complicated.

The only issue I've encountered is that there are no TIP JARS for the guac makers! They're working much harder than the bartenders IMO, but no jars. I mentioned something to the guac maker last week & she said that they're not allowed to have a jar out, but they're allowed to receive tips. In the 3x I've been there since, they're always very appreciative when I leave a tip.

Truth is they weren't making guac, they were just doing a taste test of the newest hummus formulation set to appear in F on your next 700-mile flight.

So bummed I missed this one! A few months ago, the C club at CLT had a sparkling wine & mimosa bar set up with all kinds of fresh fruit to add in. It was in promotion of AirPass. That was tasty, but freshly-made guacamole?! I'd happily wait in that line. The omelet bar at DFW awhile back was nice, but I certainly wasn't going to pay $12 for a freaking omelette.

The topic of the thread is made to order guacamole in the Charlotte Admirals Club.

Discussion about tipping is off topic, and commenting about posters instead of post content is against the FT Rules.

Is the Guac bar free or paid? I assume we're all tipping the Guac "chef"?

Guacamole bar was at CLT both times I was there this past week. The second time, there was a banner that read, "Made to Order Guacamole. Complimentary Every Afternoon." So it sounds like it'll be a daily thing, at least for the near future since they actually printed a banner saying so. Quite happy about this addition!
