Two delays both announced 5 minutes after previously posted boarding time. Maintenance issue but gate agent, AA club and Twitter clueless about what is going on. Terrible customer service.

AA 105 LHR-JFK cancelled for Monday JAN 18
[This should be moved to some existing thread]
Somewhere between 18:00 and 21:00 (ZRH Time) on JAN 17, AA 105 was cancelled. (No email from AA(?))
I was flying BA: ZRH-LHR, AA: LHR-JFK--for BA, on JAN 16, I selected an exit aisle 11A seat, which got changed to 10A (why 105's cancellation should affect my BA flt. Is puzzling).
I called the EXP desk and all the agent could do is confirm what I knew; the agent noted that she had NO access to the BA seat map, since both my flts are now on BA metal I WAS able to access the BA seat map and (1)get back 11A and (2)get an exit aisle seat on BA 0177 (LHR-JFK).
Shouldn't AA agents have access to BA seat maps?
Side note: AA 105 had J1 (per ExpertFlyer); I was hoping to use my (last) SWU to upgrade; I know SWUs can't be used on (pure) BA flts--so an exit aisle seat across the pond is not all that bad.
The only PLUS of all this is that I land at LHR in T5 and connect there to JFK, so no bus tours of LHR.

AA 293 (20:00 departure ex-JFK) became a "red-eye". Left gate at 00:24 and arrived LAX at 03:42.
And also 17JAN's LAX-LHR on AA 108 was canceled due to mechanical. They probably need the 77W for 18JAN's to DFW/MIA as 18JAN's AA 109 (LHR-LAX) was canceled.

Probably due to weather/snow at JFK last night. I was flying JFK-SFO last night and my flight was delayed for 2 hours. Other later JFK-SFO/LAX flights were delayed significantly as well for flights past 17:00 (my initial delay was due to weather at SFO and then snow at JFK just exacerbated it).

AA 1455, the 8:40 AM ORD-RDU was delayed 45 minutes today. Obviously that's not much time, but it was handled badly. The plane had remained overnight and had been worked on at a hanger and apparently there were real difficulties getting it towed over. The pilots and gate agents had no information so we sat and waited without knowing when it was arrive...very frustrating.

3248 parked overnight in ASE 2 days running
Feb 16 and Feb 17 The aeroplane that is scheduled to fly DFW-ASE-ASE as AA3248 has overnighted in ASE. Tonight it arrived in ASE only 10 minutes late.
Over the past two months of ASE AA winter schedule the ASE-LAX segment has diverted to GJT to refuel on a number of occasions (on flights ASE-DFW as well) - I agree this is preferable than have IDBs or leaving luggage behind but the overnighting of an aeroplane & crew is curious. STD is now 12 hours late at 06.45am tomorrow.
Update: Thursday Feb 18, The delayed AA3248 ASE-LAX rescheduled from 18.45 last night to 06.45 this morning has been cancelled resulting in AA3260 Feb 18 LAX-ASE being cancelled as well.
Further update; Feb 18 ASE has 'navigational aids out of service' today combined with inclement weather so none of the AA flights have landed in ASE today.
It has now been announced that there have been problems with the ASE localiser atop of Aspen Mountain this week causing some of the cancellations.
Thursday's AA3248 did not operate.
Friday's AA 3248 arrived from DFW but did not depart to LAX on time and parked overnight due out at 7.00 this morning.

Cautionary Tale on Being Backed Up
I was flying LAS/MIA last night, two 738s went mechanical and after the second mechanical we had to wait for a new crew. I called the EXP desk and the TA backed me up on the late 9:44PM flight. Since my original flight ended leaving at the same time as the 9:44Pm flight I just stayed with my original flight.
When I went to check in for my return flight tonight the reservation had been canceled because the TA had actually reconfirmed rather than back me up. A call back to the EXP desk got the return back but I lost my exit row and now I am stuck in a regular coach seat on a non MCE LUS321 redeye back to MIA with very little chance of my upgrade clearing. My hope is that the flight is oversold and I can take a VB.

An American Airlines passenger plane has been forced to return to Heathrow after reporting engine fire on take-off.
The Boeing 767 took off from the airport at 8.40am on Friday heading for Chicago in the US before declaring an emergency shortly after.
It was diverted back to Heathrow and landed safely at 9.22am.
