Etihad or Qatar for AA award to India?

Planning and award trip (Biz class) to India (Mumbai or Delhi). May i get the 'experts' advise and opinions:

EY or Qatar: Which Airline do you think is best for comfort? for service?

On EY: 380 versus 77w? Which do you think is best for comfort?

Qatar only offers a 777. Your opinions?

thanks in advance for all your knowledge and insight.

Etihad J is better than Qatar unless you get QR 787/A380/A350

Qatar offers only the B/E Aerospace MiniPod 2 X 2 X 2 seating in its 777s. While quite tolerable for longhaul flights, they're blown away by the Etihad Business Studio.

With Etihad, you arrive in the US precleared in Abu Dhabi, as if arriving on a domestic flight. No being shouted at by USCBP, no carousel and customs clownery.

If you are flying into DEL you can also get on a 777 with "true" business class on the AUH-DEL leg. I think QR are all A320s.

QUESTION 1. Does Global Entry have any benefit with this preclear in Abu Dhabi?

Questions 2. If you were flying from MLE>LAX and your choice was
MLE>DOH>AUH>LAX where the long hall AUH>LAX is Ethiad is worth the extra connection? versus MLE>DOH>LAX on Qatar?

Thanks in advance for thoughts.

I believe Etihad is now using A380s to Mumbai as well.

Wishing the OP luck on partner award availability and any AA segments needed to get to a gateway, such that he should have the luxury of choice on his preferred travel dates.

Also DOH is considerably nicer than AUH at the moment, if that's a factor for you. Though the pre-clearance on the return from AUH is nice.

Yes, you can use GE at AUH pre-clearance.

Hmmm. I think I prefer Etihad but I've only flown F with them. Flew DFW-DOH-JNB RT this month in J and it was not a pleasant experience for a number of reasons, though many of the issues originated by their awful presence at JNB.

If I am transiting thru AUH (from US) and onto Delhi or Mumbai..... where do I clear customs (etc). AUH... or my final destination?

This is somewhat incorrect. QR flies a 787 with layflat seats on DOH - DEL timed for most US connections (except the oddly timed PHL A350 flight and the 2nd JFK flight). Additionally, EY generally has layflats in J on 2 of its 3 daily DEL flights (often one on a 77L or 77W and one on an A346).

That being said, as OP is using miles and EY availability on AUH - DEL far exceeds QR award availability on DOH - DEL.
