AAdvantage Citi and Barclays Cards Reduced Miles Awards

Reduced Mileage Awards (RMAs) are available to Citi and Barclays AAdvantage-branded credit card holders, and require fewer miles than MileSAAver Awards, with the eligible cities changing every other calendar month. As of April 2015, awards are valid on American Airlines and American Eagle flights.

RMAs may be booked as one-way awards, with savings determined by the length of the flight and the type of credit card you have:
  • Flights > 500 miles: 3,750 or 2,500 miles each way (off the MileSAAver 12,500-mile one-way award)
  • Flights =< 500 miles: 1,000 or 500 miles each way (off the MileSAAver 7,500-mile one-way award introduced in 2016)
RMAs are redeemed over the phone or in person; phone charges are waived since these awards cannot be booked online. To redeem,
  • Call AAdvantage Reservations at 1-800-882-8880 (no fee)
  • Book through an airport agent ($35 Award service charge per person) or
  • Book through a ticket office ($20 Award service charge per person).
Fees are waived for EXP and AAirpass® customers.

All AA Awards are still subject to certain taxes and fees, which are generally up to $5.60 per ticket for US destinations & up to $124 for Canadian destinations.

I just made a call. The 2Q list exists; but it hasn't been posted. So...if you have an itn that works, give a call and see if you destination is on the list.

The University of Arkansas used to be in the Southwest Conference. When there was a Southwest Conference. And LSU regularly played many Southwest Conference schools. OK, that last one is a reach.

I over see the "Southwest" Region for the charity that I work for. It includes AR and LA and it never made sense to me having been born in CA which to me (along with AZ, NV, NM and UT) is the Southwest.

Then again, if we called it South Central like I think it would make sense to, I would think of Watts, Compton and Inglewood (South Central Los Angeles) 100% of the time I heard it.

I love the fact that page has a banner graphic of a snorkler in crystal clear Caribbean waters when NONE of those awards will get you even close to there.

Citi card reduced mileage awards

Is there a way to access the third quarter reduced mileage list other than wait until very late in June for Citi to release the list? At one point we could
go into AA and find the list. WHY must citi wait so late for the release?

Yes. I recently took advantage of this discount for the first time. I booked the ticket on 6/28 for a trip ending on 7/8. I saw the refund in my account on 7/9 (although it was backdated to 6/28).
