LUS: Any way to predict whether your Republic flight will operate?

Bad weather tonight in PHL, and I have the bad luck to be booked on a Republic flight (better than my odds on Air Wisconsin, I suppose). I went on FlightAware to see where my inbound aircraft is, but I suspect that information may not be accurate -- at least in the sense that Republic might switch aircraft around. The earlier flight to my destination was cancelled, even though the aircraft was already in PHL.

Any way to predict this, or do you just have to wait for the "bad news" phone call from US (or soon to be AA)?

Realistically, no. Large scale weather delays are just too dynamic. A last minute weather ground stop extension can cause a crew to time out, cancelling their next flight. Crew and planes can get out of position. And it all can change in an instant if ATC changes a delay length or ground stop.

Hope it worked out, my experience on Republic flights is actually no worse than mainline mostly - the bigger the plane, the better your shot at going. And the storms went through PHL quickly and seemed to be less disruptive than they were to the DC and NYC airports.

I'm currently doing MEM-PHL every week. In the last 4 weeks Republic has cancelled twice causing 2 Friday stays in Philly and been late 5 hours. The flight crews either complain incessantly or pull their curtain and spend most of the flight reading. US Air's gate agents are so sick of dealing with Republic's problems they are vocal about the toxic work environment Republic has. I hope AA joins Delta in suing Republic.

Well, it didn't go well for me on Republic last Friday. After a late (but brief) afternoon storm hit PHL, Republic cancelled flights left and right. But it looked like I'd be OK, because I could tell from flightaware.com that they had subbed out my "missing" aircraft for one that was sitting in PHL.

Unfortunately, there was no way to track my Republic crew. US seemed to think there was a crew in place, and until 30 minutes before flight time, the flight showed as "on time."

And then, for some inexplicable reason, there was no crew for the flight. The gate agents were completely baffled, and initially told us to disregard the delays notices that were being sent to our phones and were being posted on the monitors. They tried to reach crew scheduling, and couldn't get though. Eventually, they found out "from the tower" that our flight crew was still in Richmond.

Two and a half hours later, the crew arrived and we got to our destination at 3 am. Certainly not Republic's finest hour, and of course everyone booked on the flight blamed US for being incompetent. And I guess you can argue they are incompetent for employing Republic.

^ I am sick and tired of having to deal with Republic's constant cancelations for lack of crews.

"Your flight to Tallahassee tonight has been canceled due to crew availability."

"When is the next flight?"

"It's supposed to be tomorrow night, but that flight has been canceled as well... for the same reason."
