ARCHIVE: Earning and Redeeming AAvantage Miles Flying JQ / Jetstar Airways (Australia)

Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd, trading as Jetstar, is an Australian low-cost airline headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas Airways. It is not a one world affiliate airline, unlike Jetconnect and QantasLink.

AA flyers do not earn AAdvantage miles flying on Jetstar Airways. Awards may no longer include Jetstar Airways marketed / coded as QF / Qantas.

As Jetstar is not a oneworld member or affiliate, no lounge access is granted oneworld elites under oneworld lounge access rules.

[B]For information regarding earning or redeeming AAdvantage miles with oneworld and other partner airlines, please see: Earning AA miles / EQM on oneworld & other partner airlines (consolidated)

Is this still the case? I am wanting to fly CGK-SIN on jetstar metal which is operated as QF279 codeshare.
Is it possible to redeem AA miles on this flight?

If there are award seats available in respect to the QF codeshare flight number then they should be bookable.

Only OW Emeralds (AA Exec Plats) are allowed in the QF loung on a JQ ticket. Those are the rules.

The *rules* are that there is no lounge entitlement when travelling on Jetstar since Jetstar is not a OW Airline

The practice that I have seen domestically is that AA Platinum members are granted access to Qantas Clubs and that AA Executive Platinum members are granted access to Qantas Clubs and Business Lounges.

These posts have been moved into a new thread of their own, as the questions asked in the first post are certainly germane - but not in a > four year old thread, in accordance with the TOS. /Moderator

Yes, the key is to look for award availability under the QF code. Also, JQ is not part of oneworld and JQ tickets don't qualify for Qantas Club access- even is "business".

Should be no different from using AAdvantage miles to book any QF flight number.

On most JQ fares you can't even credit to QF, let alone any partners..

Redeeming AA miles for Jetstar flights?

Are Jetstar's Australia-Bali routes (that QF codeshares) available for redemption for AA awards? I've tried calling American, but I'm currently in NZ and the NZ American people aren't the greatest. Does anybody know this? It's showing availability for my dates on QF's website, but I'm not sure if this is possible. I found some threads in the past of people saying they can do it, but they were in 2011 so I want to make sure it's still possible.
