Our intra-Europe BA flight arrives in the early afternoon in T3 and we depart the next morning on AA back to the US (less than 24 hours later). We will be entering the UK and spending the night in London. However, our upgrades back to the US still have not cleared. Assuming they still haven't cleared when we arrive at LHR I want to stop by the AC to make sure all is in order and find out where we are in the queue.
Will we be able to go through security, etc as though I was a normal transit connection, visit the AC, then go from there to immigration? I assume BA will have provided us our AA BPs when we check in at WAW.

You'll land at Heathrow on your short-haul flight and follow yellow signs for arrivals and baggage reclaim. Once you leave the customs area you're free to do whatever. When you return to the airport, you can check in at Flagship Check-in (your profile indicates you are EXP), where you can answer the security questions. leave any bags you may have and also inquire about the upgrade waitlist. Then proceed through Fast Track security (which you're also qualified for as EXP), and avoid the AA lounges like the plague--use BA Galleries First or CX First Class lounge instead. Once you get to the gate, enter the holding area and pass the security person again, then find the gate agent desk and make yourself known to the agent(s) there (something like "Hi, I'm so-and-so and just wanted to be sure there wasn't anything I need to do on my upgrade request in case it clears... OK, well I'll just be over here, I'll come back if you page me *big smile*" or something like that). No need for the AC, no need to fret if BA don't issue you the AA BP in WAW, easy peasy.

I'm not sure what your question really is, but let me explain how I'd suggest you let things roll:

Furthermore, unless things have changed recently, neither the Flagship checkin nor the AC at LHR seem able or willing to talk about upgrade status. Presumably this would now show up on the AA mobile app (though I have not tried this as I have not been waitlisted for an upgrade out of LHR recently).

The breakfast options though are pretty much back to the way they were so I would still place the BA F lounge at the top of the list for morning departures.

I have difficulty seeing this as anything but uninformed fear mongering.

Agree on all counts. And I use LHR a lot. Just ordered a burger on Saturday, and while it isn't the same burger as before it was still quite good. Yes there's some "gloop", but there are still items that can be ordered from the menu, and the buffet still has quite a few tasty options. Compared to food in the AC/FL, it's still streets ahead.

I've had no issues from food in BA lounges to date...be it T3, T5 or elsewhere.

Is any AC get a C rating for food hygiene?
How is this uninformed?

In any case, this entire tangent is off topic, you're welcome to avoid the BA lounge and I'll continue to patronise it.

If not, I suppose we could walk up to the ticket desk landside before leaving the airport.
And I am assuming that our bags will be checked through to the US, so no need to pick them up at LHR and recheck them the next morning, correct?

Thanks. I have connected at LHR before and know how a normal connection would work. Since I will have been checked in by BA in WAW, when I get into LHR I want to talk to an AA agent to be sure we're properly queued up on the airport upgrade list. Since we are connecting (albeit a 20 hour connection) I thought we could follow the connections path upon arrival, talk to an agent in the AC or FL, then find our way from there to immigration. Am I hearing that is not possible?

After clearing immigration and customs, I'd just go to the ticket counter in T3 Zone F. Per AA, the desk is open 700a to 1815.

As far as bags, you should be able to through check them. I've had family do so with no issue.
