Yes. I think it's actually been used for other things as well, IIRC, but most recently, this would be url reserved for buyback/boost.

Like I said in the previous thread, Boost was announced this week last year, so would think program details would be forthcoming sooner rather than later to give people time to plan appropriately.

Just got off the phone with AA Platinum customer service on another matter and mentioned that I may have to cancel a flight which would make me 500 points short of EP for 2014. She said that she received a memo today that there was an Elite boost and buyback coming. She gave me the URL of the announcement and I entered it while on the phone with her. It currently (Monday 8:19 PM EST) says "Thanks for stopping by ... Coming Soon.". She said that it would likely be loaded tonight and we should see it online tomorrow. Let's hope...

Given the prices for the last round ($1799 to "boost" to EXP), it's probably much cheaper just to do a quick point-run. For instance, a same-day December roundtrip, PHL to BOS, is just $311 in F

Based on your report, just got a look at the memo, your report is dead on:

Today, we are announcing the return of the elite status boost/renew offer for eligible AAdvantage members. Offer details and frequently asked questions (FAQs) will be available on aa.com later today:

visit www.aa.com/elite2015 which includes a link to the site that will be live later today to accept payment
Note that eligible members can also go directly to elite2015.aa.com to select their offer and process payment. A personalized email will be sent to targeted customers sometime tomorrow, Tuesday, November 11, 2014. A similar offer will be launched to eligible Dividend Miles members within the next few weeks more details to come.

Below is a quick recap of the offer details

Offer Details: There are two primary audiences/offers:

Renew customers who held elite status in 2014, but did not requalify for their current elite status level
Boost customers who ended 2014 close to qualifying for the next higher elite status level
Elite status obtained through this offer will be valid through February 29, 2016. If the customer is purchasing a higher elite status than is currently held, their new elite status will be effective within 5 business days from purchase. For customers purchasing status that is the same as or lower than what is currently held, their new status will take effect on March 1, 2015.

The option to boost or renew elite status will be available through July 31, 2015
In case anyone's gonna ask-- pricing was not included in this memo.

Just logged into the site and checked a couple of family members' accounts, it looks like Renew pricing is the same as last year: $649 for GLD and $1199 for PLT.

Edit: FAQs here. Sounds like the Boost threshold has been lowered a little bit to 15k EQM/15 segments.

This also stood out:

If I do not hold AAdvantage elite status for 2014, can I boost myself to AAdvantage Platinum status?
No. As a non-elite status member, you may only boost yourself to AAdvantage Gold status, provided you meet the required 2014 AAdvantage elite-qualifying balance threshold. You will not be eligible to use this offer to obtain AAdvantage Platinum or Executive Platinum status.
