FINALLY: DFW-EWR-DFW gets 738!!
^^
I checked out some of the newest schedule changes from the OAG thread in (random dates in November) and it looks like the S80s are gone from DFW-EWR and replaced with 4-5x 738.
As someone who spent many rides on EWR-DFW on M80s in the late 2000s (with the occasional 757 here and there), this is pretty significant for me to see. Anybody else feel that this is pretty cool?

Personally I prefer the M80 to the 738. The F class seats are way more comfortable and if I end up in Y, I much prefer the 2x3 layout to the 3x3 layout. Just a personal preference.

I just think it's a big deal with the M80 has been on the route for over 25 years with very little variation over time.

JFK has been S80 free for several years now, and The final S80 came off ORD-LGA in March.

IFE on 737 makes the flight seem shorter.

Unless you get one of those really old MD80s with the coach seats without moveable headrests... Was stuck on one of those with family last week, and ugh it was an uncomfortable seat. Granted 2x2 was still better with that crappy seat than a 737.

On the other hand, the 738 has normal electrical outlets, instead of the cigarette-lighter-style plugs on the MD80s.

These are the TWA MD80s (that don't have the moveable headrests), right? They have different side walls than AA's which have the basket weave side walling.

EWR - DFW SUPER 80 vs 737-800 aircraft
If I am in First Class, I prefer the 737-800. Overall, this aircraft has more amenities and the seats are wider. Though some of the aircraft can already use a refurbishment in both classes.
In Economy class, it depends on the length of the flight. If it's shorter, then the Super 80, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours is about the longest I prefer. If the flight is longer, then the 737-800, for the entertainment and power. Definitely want a MCE seat on either aircraft.
Please don't knock the TWA MD 80's, they hold a special place in my heart.
