To my knowledge this is not a stated benefit.

Here's the original link for the stated benefit: http://www.aa.com/i18n/urls/complimentary.jsp

No mention there of anything other than EXP and CK.

Yes, but Dragonair and AA aren't competitors.

I am BA Gold (OW Emerald) and have been offered in the past a free meal/snack or alcoholic drink (albeit not consistently) on AA domestic flights.

Looks like I got lucky and FAs were just not fully aware of the policy.

That is entirely believable.

It took long enough to get semi-consistent delivery of the benefit to those actually entitled so I wouldn't be at all surprised if enough confusion existed to allow the occasional Emerald to receive the service as well.

Iberia doesn't even offer free beverages. They even make you pay for a soda

Semi-consistent is right! On a flight this weekend, an FA had no idea about the benefit. He even tried to run my EXP AAdvantage card through the credit card machine.

And a bottle of water too - I think its 2.5 or 3.0 euros. That's what they wanted to charge me when my wife and I flew Granada-MAD in July. We waited for the free food and drink in the MAD Hilton Exec lounge.

Good news is that AA now gives beer and wine for free on economy transatlantic flights. They even had Newcastle on my recent flight to/from UK. Food is still crap though.

Free alcoholic drink and snack for OW Emeralds?

I flew on AA today from JFK to YYZ in Y. I am a OW Emerald and in the past have always been offered a free alcoholic drink and a snack (even if I had to ask for it). Today I was denied; I was told that only AA EXP get this benefit.

Is this correct?

It is only for AA EXP per policy.

I think they're supposed to do that actually. I've had them just give me free drinks, and tell other FA's that i'm EXP when i asked for stuff. But then on another flight the FA's talked about it, agreed that it was a benefit. One FA knew and one had no idea. But both insisted that i had to run my card and i only got one snack item and one drink. I was traveling with my 4 year old, who's now just gold, but made plt when he was 1. So the snacks were for him since he was hungry.
