Archive: AA Citibank Executive / AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard (& MM poll)

Has anyone had any experience with what looks like a new offering from Citibank/AAdvantage, this Citi Executive World Elite MC?

It's a $450/yr annual fee, but positions it basically against the Continental Presidents from Chase and Amex Plat in terms of concierge, services. The difference is that it looks like it includes free access to Admirals Club only and has a 10kEQM bonus based on a $40k annual spend.

Is this worth it for someone who routinely racks up enough miles to get AA Plat status every year? I currently use the AmexPlat for Admirals Club access, but this could make it worth it to switch since I would get AA miles.

• Clarification from AmericanAirlines re: waiver for CitiGold members and Admirals Club membership: Link to post
• Information obtained by JDiver on access to Admirals Clubs and other reciprocal access lounges using the card: Link to post
Note added later: the card now comes with am EMV chip (it is actually "Chip and Signature", not Chip and PIN, as the PIN you have is only for cash advances from a cash machine / ATM).

The extra 10k EQMs are not a deal. With the Starwoods Amex you always get a 25% bonus, so every 40k you accumulate gives you an extra 10k. With this Citi card it is only once per year, and will not begin again until January 1. So if you charge 60k you're not getting bonus for your last 20k. Starwoods makes more sense, and it's way less than $450/year.

This begs two questions:

1) Will Citi waive the yearly fee for Citigold members like they do with the other AA cards? I assume the answer is no, but I will ask anyway.

2) Does AC membership with this card act like the Amex PLT card or does it give the holder full AC benefits (i.e., wifi). I realize, this may be moot in a few months if AA switches to free wifi.

Oops. You're absolutely right. I was thinking RDM, not EQM. Apologies all around.

It made perfect sense to those of us who thought for a couple of seconds and realized what the poster quite obviously meant.

Why cant people either respond politely (pointing out an error if there is one) or not respond at all? Am I the only one getting tired of the seemingly endless rudeness that permeates some of these threads?

This Citi product bodes well for Chase to retain its CO Presidential Plus card in some form as it harmonizes its CO/UA offerings in the next few months.

(Edited to add) I was not aware of this card until reading this thread.

I hadn't heard of it before this week, so I thought I'd post to gauge how many other AA Elites had heard of it before. I'm not sure it provides a huge bonus over the Amex Plat card, except that you'd get AA miles instead of MR points for the annual spend, in addition to the small 2-for-1 on AA purchases.

The 10k EQMs are nice, but it sucks that it's calendar year only, so I doubt I would want to get it right now since there's no way I can spend $40k in the remaining 5 months of the year.

Well, if they change the program, the many of us who are still working towards MM status via spending will not only drop AA like a bad habit, but cancel our cards and join up with DL/Amex for their superior MQM bonus miles.

(to any of those AA reps out there )

That sounds like it may be worth a call to the CitiGold line to find out.

I fail to see the connection given that the perk is EQMs, not MM miles.

New to me. The page linked to in the second post is in Google's cache from July 15. Google's cache of this page: https://creditcards.citi.com/credit-...-credit-cards/ from July 12 does not show the card.

From that information, I'm guessing the card is new this week. I'm surprised it wasn't posted here sooner.
