Problem using miles for JL SAN-NRT service

Problem using miles for JL SAN-NRT service

Yes, I know the 788 is grounded. However, I called a couple days ago trying to redeem AA miles for JL's SAN-NRT flight op by a 772, and the AAgent says that she can't see inventory.... not that it wasn't available, but that JL had blocked her access on that particular flight. I called today and got the same answer.

Has anyone else been able to use AA miles on SAN/BOS-NRT recently?

The SAN service is being reduced to 3X weekly when it was originally scheduled for daily service (with the 787). My guess is that JL is having a PITA time rebooking everyone onto the existing flights from their original ones, so they don't want to release any FF inventory until the 787 issue is finally resolved. And does anyone have a specific date on that matter?

Sounds like a good guess for sure.

IIRC, I read over in the JL forum that they've wiped the 788 from their schedules until May 31 (for now).

JL continues to provide Award Availability on that route -- for example:
