New MIA-XNA service

Another "Wal*Mart Express" route. American Eagle will begin non-stop service between Miami and Northwest Arkansas on 10 April 2007:

AA 4515 XNA 0630-1020 MIA
AA 4515 MIA 2045-2245 XNA

The service will operate daily with an ERJ-140, and is now bookable.

Rumour has it that Miami-Austin is next, launching in June, with a daily 738.

American Eagle Airlines New Service Will Connect Northwest Arkansas and South Florida
Thursday February 8, 11:00 am ET

FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will add nonstop service between Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) and Miami International Airport (MIA), beginning April 10.

American Eagle's service will be the first ever between the state of Arkansas and Miami. The airline will operate round-trip service between the two cities using a 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 jet.

"American and American Eagle have been proud to give travelers from Northwest Arkansas their first nonstop access to New York and Los Angeles, and this new route will allow them to access the premier Latin American gateway at our Miami hub," said American Eagle President Peter Bowler.
Nice Going, AA!! ^ ^ ^ ^

AA started flying all those routes to XNA because they heard that the Ivory-billed Woodpecker had been rediscovered in the swamps of northwest Arkansas (true), and they were getting set for all the birders who were going to see it. But now that most ornithologists have debunked the story (also true), saying the guys who claimed to find the bird must have been high on Arkansas joyjuice, the flights will probably be empty except for Wal-Mart wonks. Darn, Mrs. GoBears and I were going to go and find that woodpecker!

Got it - that must have been what I shot when I was duck hunting out at Beaver lake.

Unless those woodpeckers are nocturnal, it would be pretty hard for Miami-based bird-fanciers, as the schedule only leaves XNA in the morning and returns in the evening.

No, the XNA-MIA flight number is 4514; the MIA-XNA flight number is 4515:

Just imagine flying from Miami to Arkansas and back on an ERJ and getting zero miles!

Also for Miami fliers, Miami-Charlotte goes 5x daily this spring, and one of the MIA-JAX runs will get an ERJ, replacing an ATR.

In addition, CVG-LGA and ORD-SHV were loaded into the system last week, but have since been deleted. Not sure what is going on with those two.

MIA-XNA is pretty cool, will let us Californians who relocated to XNA get on some cruise ships

I wonder what's next? With all the people in XNA driving to Tulsa to fly to LAS, I am surprised some airlines hasn't picked that one up yet...
