using aa gift card for usair itn
As I noted in another thread, I can't book a usair itn on aa.com (even though it is listed, when you make the selection, you get an error message.), so I must make my purchase on usair.com

When the merger is totally complete (by year end(?)), will aa gift cards work?

I think it works as a codeshare (AA operated by US) but since the reservations systems are separate it can't be US op by US

But (as I bolded) in my OP, when all systems are ONE (I assume that is their intention

Your guess is as good as anyone's, but I would assume so since it is one system then.
