Flight 1380 - SAN to DFW FC - Seat 3E (not bad when you are a vertically challenged female like me!) - Breakfast

PDB - oddly served just before the wheels left the ground - Bloody Mary

Hot towel service - nicely handled by the way - lavender-scented towels

Entree choice of:
-Steel-cut oats with dried fruit & brown sugar OR
-Egg Strada (like an old Fiat Strada?) which was actually quite good

Bread choice of:
-Banana nut muffin (had that) OR
-Biscuit (occupant of seat next to mine said it tasted like a dog biscuit - I wouldn't know!)

Fruit - usual AA melon chunks with a strawberry and a slice of mango (that was new)

Starbuck's Mocha Frappucino to follow (brought on board)

Service was wonderful and attentive. Two flight attendants in FC kept the beverages topped off, located extra butter for the dry muffin and even offered some Bailey's to go with the Frappucino (didn't partake).

-PDB was water/OJ/choice

-Warm nuts in ramekins with cocktail (my standard Bloody Mary)

-Entree choice of Buffalo chicken salad OR fish taco (Buffalo sauce not very spicy, single fish taco served with plate of lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc.)

-Warm cookie (choc/choc chip OR white choc/macadamia)

I chose the salad. The taco did not look very appealing except the plate of accompaniments would have made a great salad.

Crew was fantastic. Gate was a total disaster.
Same options on #818 LAX - STL for lunch, first MD83

Terrible offering. Why no savory option? Some cold meat and cheese perhaps?

On American Eagle? You must not fly AE much. AE Breakfast usually consists of cereal or, if you are lucky, hot oatmeal.

Oh I definitely knew that. Was just expressing my displeasure with the common offering. Not everyone wants a sugary breakfast.

It is quite good, tho' I believe it's "strata", which could be loosely translated as "layers" ...

Same Offering - LGA-ATL - choice was cereal (which is Crispix) or a fuller bowl of fruit. Dinner on the way back was Salmon Salad (which was good) or a Moroccan dish (did not order so cannot comment).

AA #1918 - LAS to MIA

AA flight #1918 - LAS to MIA
Lunch

Pre departure beverage orders taken before pushing off from gate
Hot towels

Lunch orders were not taken - cart pushed down aisle (I'm I the only one annoyed by this laziness??)

Choice of:
Buffalo Chicken Salad
Fish Taco w/ rice

SO picked the salad and said it was good & fresh. Chicken was not spicy.

I would have picked the salad, but it came with blue cheese crumbles. So I opted for the taco instead. Main plate had 1 soft taco with cheese & "fish" inside, with white rice with frozen vegetables (peas, carrots, etc) on the side. Side plate had lettuce, onions & queso fresco you could add to the taco. There was also a small container of salsa. Taco wasn't bad once you added all the extras, but it wasn't a very substantial lunch.

Cookie was choice of sugar or chocolate

Time for a refresh on the HFS menu meat entree choice rotations. All the "Chef Sam Choy" options have been in for several years, over 5 years I think. Wasabi Salmon, Teriyaki Fillet, the McNut Chicken etc. I like them all, but . . . Just mho.

What needs to change even is the addition of a proper pre-arrival snack on ORD/DFW-HNL/OGG. Was starving when I walked off the plane last time on ORD-HNL.

I agree with this, I remember thinking the exact same thing last time I flew this route.

And the Sam Choy options are pretty tired. Would be great to see some different, more hawaiian fish options.

Same options on the lunch DFW-SNA flight today (although the chicken was referred to as a warm chicken pocket lol)

I think the beef salad is pretty good.

While you and I would appreciate a savory breakfast offering of cold meats and cheese, I suspect it wouldn't fly (pun intended ) with the majority of domestic passengers. Those just aren't widely considered breakfast items here in the states.
