Agent told me they were filled with a ricotta cheese. Pretty tasty, actually, compared to some of the past pasta dishes I've had on AA.

HIEXP...When did you start flying the ORD/HNL route or the DFW/HNL route? I have been flying either one of those in first since 1997. I can recall the good ol'days of meal service. When we would arrive into HNL we would not have to eat because my wife and I were stuffed. The meals were good until AA switched to the 767 from the DC-10.

HIEXP, here is what we use to get on the DC-10 from ORD to HNL:

Pre Departure Beverage Service (Champagne, Mirmosa, etc)
Warm Nuts
Appetizer (Shrimp Cocktail. There might have been a second choice)
Tossed Salad (served at your seat before your meal)
Entree (Choice of 3). A descent portion.
Rolls, bread
Sundae
After dinner cordial
Pizzeria Uno Personnal Pan Pizza
Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie

I think that was about it.

Yes times have changed, and I don't think its because of the aircraft. Airlines have just cut back.

I remember when AA started their flagship service, SAN-JFK you were served a true 4 course meal, salad cart had lobster meat on it, entree's were first rate and good size...

They still have all of these, on other routes, even on DFW-LAX, minus the tossed salad and choice of 3 entrees.

AA is still serves the BEST meal of all US carriers, hands down.

I would have to give US a push for best breakfast, thier French Toast is very good, now I have only flown them on mid-con flights PHX-IND its not dry and or soggy. Fruit is first rate and breads are fresh and warm. Service very attentive, MAJOR improvement!!!

Lunch I'll give it to UA, thier Southwest Chicken Salad and soup (really doesn't matter which one) is excellent and is the right size for lunch, I'm satisfied with the meal when I get off the plane.

I will give AA the best Dinner though, the Cheese Enchalida's are excellent, and on the rare change I have had the steak and was very impressed with it.

I do wish on AA, the FA's wouldn't service the whole meal service at once, the salad and shimp cocktail should be served first, then the entree and then desert. Would make it a more enjoyable service, too many items on one tray...

DL, flew them once, PHX-ATL-PHX in FC, was not impressed with the meal I got in both direction, very uninspiring..

Hate to tell you but the enchilada is in the lunch/brunch/snack coded category and not the dinner category. You might have thought it was a dinner item because it does get served on flights past 7PM or so that are coded as snack flights.

I also enjoy the enchilada very much.

Wow, are you certain? I ask because that would be two vegetarian entrée choices. Perhaps a catering mistake or the dawn of Chapter 11 is really upon us.

Yes I am certain, one flight was out of ORD to PHX and the other was PHX-ORD. I thought it was odd, but never really had an issue, and no one else that I could hear had an issue with it, but I do think they had more Enchalida's loaded then Pasta. Anyhow, what is wrong with two Vegetarian entree when they are better then most meat entrees.

Now I would Love to see the cheeseburger come back...

Oh, don't you worry, the "juicy cheeseburger" is still lurking out there. Had one last weekend on LAX-DFW.

Indeed, the current choice on that route is Chicken Fajita Salad or the Cheeseburger with Miss Vickie’s chips.
