I am all for variety and creativity... but no.
I saw that choice on my NRT flight but didn't have to worry about it since I had the Japanese meal

On the return though, one of the options was lobster risotto, and it sounded very good, but I also didn't have to worry about it since I had the Japanese meal

I'm surprised AA would offer a lobster entree, however. ^

Btw, I've been on a lot of flights recently where there were loads of NRSAs (LAX-JFK F, NRT flights in J, etc) and on all of these flights the purser skipped all the NRSAs and came to us first for meal orders regardless of flight numbers. ^ Later the FA confirmed that AA has a policy of taking meal orders of NRSAs last ^ That's the way it should be!!!!!

Unlike UA, where NRSAs not only get their meal choices first, but they also get preferential treatment and F meals when seated in J

Lunch/Snack

Took awhile to get around to posting this, so I don't really remember the other entree choices.

To start

Warm (A foreign word to UA) mixed nuts

Appetizer

Halibut, shrimp, asparagus, and tuna plate

w/

Artichoke salad & bread

http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a2...D550/ry%3D400/

I chose a steak dish for the main entree.

Good, hearty portion w/ potato cake and greens. BTW, I'm not sure why I zoomed in so close on this image, it tasted *a lot* better than it looks. haha

http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a2...D550/ry%3D400/

Followed by Ben & Jerry's Sweet Cream Ice Cream or Fruit/Cheese Plate.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a2...D550/ry%3D400/

I had the ice cream. Midflight, a fruit and cheese plate was served, as well as some packaged snacks. I have to say, *none* of the packaged snacks looked appealing to me. No familiar brand names or choices.

Prior to arrival

Choice of a cold chicken dish or Uno's pizza. I, of course, being super health conscious, chose the pizza.

Served w/ garden salad and blueberry cake.

Ah yes, i've tried that on NRT-ORD. Sounds good, but execution was kind of sacrilegious. 5 decent chunks of lobster, but the risotto was not remotely a risotto. It was some kind of orzo based pasta creation. Not bad, per se, but not risotto...which i'd think would be difficult to serve in the air properly. So, meh, B- kind of meal.

^Thank you for posting the pics! The chicken entree and and snack looked quite good. Our next 2 international trips (ORD-CPH, ORD-BRU) will be on BA metal. Hopefully I will be able to post our AA metal fall and winter trips.

I can confirm the smoked fish appetizer was probably one of the best starters I've ever had on AA (if you like fish), maybe better than some other international carriers. The cumin chicken was good, nothing spectacular, but good.

Really interesting to see that unique PEK-ORD menu. Sounds pretty good on paper.

3 years ago I flew the morning ORD-LHR, when it was still 777. Really nice if you like breakfast/brunch foods.

Going way back in the vault for this...

[QUOTE=jpetekYXMD80;18462276]Really interesting to see that unique PEK-ORD menu. Sounds pretty good on paper.

Well sounded good, but wasn't all that great. Started off with strawberry fruit smoothie - pretty bad. Tried the frittata and seafood noodle bowl (out of coconut pancakes by the time we ordered). Noodles were ok, but salty. Your frittata from '09 looked better than mine. Tried the char siu sandwich snack - didn't like that either. Saw instant cup of noodles in the galley so opted for that instead of the other noodle dish. Was actually surprised to see the instant noodles on AA. I've had that on some other Asian airlines but not AA.

I took the PEK flight in the past week or so and was very disappointed. The quality and variety of the items offered is outrageous, and all AA catering ex-China has been awful (both PEK and PVG). Not surprisingly its much worse than the HND-JFK breakfast I had last July.

ORD-PEK also didn't have a beef filet on offer, instead turkey meatloaf. While an interesting combination and variety its not what I'd expect in an international business class cabin. Either AA has done away with the Chinese tea set for the Jasmine tea (very good btw) was served in the usual mugs or lazy FAs.

AA 153 ORD-NRT F

Starter: edemame hummus + nuts. Awesome.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...0/P1000181.jpg

Standard app and salad

Main: spicy shrimp of some kind. They packed a big punch for airplane food.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...0/P1000184.jpg

Snack: bento+fruit, pretty nice light snack
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...0/P1000194.jpg

2nd meal: Tahitian crabmeat soup. Pretty good. Not much crab, but nice enough.. I like soup.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...0/P1000199.jpg

AA 154 NRT-ORD F

Salad: nice dressing, nice beef, great salad
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...0/P1000629.jpg

Main: filet, a true medium actually. My potatoes should be significantly larger than that piece of broccoli though..

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...g?t=1287024858

Lunch: cold chicken and lentil salad. Nasty, bland thing to wake up to. I miss breakfast on these Asian flights, I don't care what the local time is.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...0/P1000636.jpg

Dessert: bread pudding. Cold. Gross.

Beef Fillet with Mushroom Bordelaise on today's DUB-ORD:

Other options were Maple Dijon Chicken, Coconut Cilantro Shrimp and Mushroom Girasole (pasta dish). Prearrival snack was pizza/salad or grilled chicken breast.

Rest of the meal photos in the AA gallery linked below.

Enjoyed a very nice Murrieta's Well Zarzuela which is a new wine for me (blend of Spanish and Portuguese grapes).
