I was sent back to AA CS and she said that she can see what promotions are current and what will happen the rest of the year and this was not a part of it.

She had also mentioned that no such email went out based upon her database of promotions.

Res nor CS (2 agents each) could find anything on this. If anyone else has any success, please let us know!

So why do you think AA would send it out on Deal Finder and include a registration code? Dates seems pretty clear to me and I got the alert when it came out. Did you receive it?

I bet if you call back in a few hours, after agents have had a chance to read their e-mail, they'll be up to speed. I can't recall AA ever withdrawing an offer they sent out.

Could be because it was not sent out as an e-mail.

That was my thought as well. A bit premature.

If I already have such a reservation booked a few weeks back, is there anything I can do to get it to count -- short of canceling and rebooking? Maybe change a return?

And you can never say "it's on the website" because their computers do not have internet access, even if it's AA.com.

I asked the same question. Need original booking to take place from today on; doesn't apply to previously purchased tickets for flights during qualifying period.

And that would be because:
Reservation must be booked on or after October 27, 2011, to be eligible.

Does anyone think this offer is in any way good for AA?

Given the promotion eligible routes and timing of the promotion, this is unlikely to produce an increase in AA's revenues for 2012. Even if there was a marginal increase in revenues as a result it would be overshadowed by the direct and indirect costs of the promotion.

The double miles aspect will be a major blow to the AA balance sheet, it will be billions of extra AA miles! Those miles are more likely than most to be used on high cost redemptions, since those registered for the promotion tend to understand the value of a mile better than the average customer.

It will likely produce hundreds of thousands of additional transferable SWUs. A sizable portion of those will be used in place of a paid premium seat. Furthermore the residency restrictions exclude and irritate half of AA's well informed customer base, probably including half of their best customers.

I know the theory is that those ineligible will never know what they are missing out on, but dealfinder showed me the promotion too, and my address is definitely ineligible.

Okay, really now, how many people do you think take advantage of these?
