Getting the best out of AA vouchers
Hello,
After a bit of a difficult journey JFK-MIA-EZE in flagship F last year, my wife and I were given 2 x $500 vouchers for our inconvinience. They are on paper and are called transportation vouchers.
The conditions / restrictions say "valid for transportation only on American Airlines / American Eagle oneworld / American Connection". They are valid until 12/22/09.
I am not US based (I am mainly in Australia now) and there is virtually no chance I will fly on AA metal this year (although I will fly on QF and BA). I would love to use them on oneworld partners but that appears to be impossible.
I did call AA customer services who said I could use them towards a ticket for someone else, but a friend I have in the US who I offered them to may not now be able to use them.
My question were what can I use them for? Is there any flexibility regarding carrier (the statement that they can be use on American Eagle oneworld is a bit ambiguous)? Might AA exchange them for something else if I explain my predicament? Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
