How sad.

WrLdTrvLnIndian Aug 27, 2010 3:56 pm

ouch....that is sad. They upgraded Emralds and Saphires without any questions :) or any stickers :) as long as seat available.

MX was a nice Latin American addition to Oneworld besides LA. Do you think that there will be room for another player like AV or AR?

sts603 Aug 27, 2010 4:05 pm

AA should use the opportunity to gain some US-Mexico market share.

I think AA will be fine sending everyone though LAX and DFW to getting to Mexico. Mexicana operates at all 3 Bay Area airports (SFO, OAK, SJC). I doubt AA will pick up on these routes.

G3 (Gol Airlines) has teamed up with AA recently, and AFAIK they're in negotiations to join OW. It is a shame that they've lost most of Varig international routes after the takeover...

So sad.. sorry to hear this..

GUWonder Aug 27, 2010 4:53 pm

That's disappointing, no less for an airline that entered into OW less than a year ago.

I have one unused MX ticket with them from DFW to EZE with the first sector being an MX-coded-AA-operated flights. So much for the chances of using that.

No pain no game, right? :p Have you seen AR's new website and livery? Change is in the air.

GOL is nice but it does not have a vast international network.

By the way, a bit off topic but I was looking for fares SFO-GRU and when I tried the AM website it wouldn't allow me to continue and took me to a page to re-enter my destination but on the table there were only Mexican destinations. What's up with that? If I remember correctly MX had a similar thing happening.

You do not remember correctly , AR were never part of OW , although , IIRC ( and I could be wrong ) they were briefly on the Global Explorer fare way back in the day when QF and AR codeshared on each others AKL-SYD-EZE services .

LGJ Aug 27, 2010 5:52 pm

I flew them once and both the outbound and return flights were horrible, they only shamed OW...glad to see them go!
