Then your PLT should reflect by your return trip.
Once your status registers on your AA page give them a call and make sure your return reservation is linked to your new status.
Your only issue is access to BA lounges, as you won't have your shiney new PLT card yet.
BA dragons are known for wanting to see the plastic, though I have gotten into several BA F and J lounges without a card. I would carry a printout of your online statement just in case they ask. Will a statement work? Who knows, bust it's worth a try!

I meant EQP!
DCA-DFW-LHR-BAH vv is booked in L, so it's 1.0 EQP, the trip to Los Angeles is in deep discount, so .5 EQP.
I'm also flying AA codeshare to Bahrain, on BA. Turns out American and Gulf Airways don't codeshare anymore, which is too bad, I was looking forward to trying them out.

Gold Challange Question
I was signing up for the gold challange today and the rep was going through my itenerary to verify that it would be sufficient miles to get me to GOLD status (Agent's suggestion, not mine).
3 of my 4 segments are listed as LAN Argentina (operated by AA) and Quantas (operated by AA). The agent told me that those would not qualify for the challange and that I would receive no miles.
Is this correct?
The booking codes for those are S, N, and Q.

In case you haven't stumbled upon it yet, here's a link to the wiki article on the AA Challenges: http://www.flyerguide.com/wiki/index...lenge_%28AA%29
So just to clarify...you say that those flights are operated by AA, but are listed as LAN and Quantas. I presume that they are not AA-marketed flights (i.e. AA flight numbers)? If that's the case, then the agent is correct.
For the purposes of your Gold Challenge, you can take flights operated by other carriers, but they MUST be AA flight numbers to count. (AA-operated flight with another carriers' flight numbers do NOT count.)
(RPB has already been sent in for potential merge with the Help Desk thread.)

One of the easier ways is to check your itin online. When you go into the reservation, look at the Carrier column. If it shows an AA logo and says "AMERICAN AIRLINES - OPERATED BY QANTAS AIRWAYS," then you're fine. If the Carrier logo is a Qantas logo and says "QANTAS AIRWAYS - OPERATED BY AMERICAN AIRLINES," then it's not an AA flight number.

what upgrades? he hasn't accumulated 10000 miles towards Elite Upgrades yet. they can be bought for $30 each as needed.
domestic travel doesn't qualify one for access to the lounges AFAIK (save for FL if doing transcon in F)

Your DH will get 4 500 mile upgrades for every 10K miles flown as a PLT, so he had more than a couple to go before he gets any.
He can buy them in advance for 30 dollars each online or at the kiosk. If he is checking in at the counter, and his upgrade request clears he will need to buy them from the agent and then they go for $35.
(1000th post. Fitting when you consider that the PLT Challenge scheme is what drew me to FT! ^)

No they do not - Based on a First class ticket purchased in India, on CX stock no less, I just succesfully completed the AA Gold challenge (status updated a couple of hours ago). Now trying to figure out how long my Gold Status is valid for.

February 2011. I'd suggest the Platinum challenge on/after June 16 next year (more bonus miles and, if you travel internationally on any OW carrier, lounge access).
