well... let's consider a more competitive APR such as 12%... let's say you value AA miles at 2 cents each - after only 2 months, you've still wiped out the value of the miles you earned in the interest you've paid. Or the current prime rate of 8.25% (not that ANY reward card would ever offer a prime+0 APR) - it still takes you only 3 months to wipe out that 2% return from the miles.

moral: don't carry a balance on a reward card.

Actually, I was told it had to be over 90 days. I applied and got approval for personal card but was sent a letter denied Citi business card --stated since I had already applied for one credit card, must wait "at least 90 days" before applying for any other card.
Dont know if this is common practice or should I just apply again before the 90 days.

I applied for a personal and business card on 5/18/06 for the 25K anniversery bonus promotion. Got one card and was turned down for the other because I had applied for another card (the 5/18 app for the card I got). A friend did the same thing and got both cards in the 5/18 promo. At the time I got a Citi letter that said there had to be sixty days between apps. But, I have my dobts since my friend got two cards when applying on the same day.

Citi poloicies are: wacky, unevenly applied, and often unknown to the Citi person on the other end of the 'phone.

PS: applied for and got another AA card a couple of months later. Guess I missed out on 5K in bonus miles, but, who really cares. There are lots of credit cards to apply for. And get bonuses for. ^

PPS: used my new UAL card this morning for the first time. 20.5K bonus miles in the bag!

Of course, there is no guarantee they'll still honor these, since it was an anniversary offer, and technically was only valid on 5/18. If they do not, you wouldn't really have a leg to stand on (except maybe to ask them to honor the current offer instead). However, it's been my experience that as long as the offer code links stay active, you can still be approved under that offer (cf the no-longer-advertised Juniper/US 1.5x/15k offer). I did an app through these links on 5/19 - a day after the expiration - and it worked.

Anyway, no annual fee the first year, so all you have to lose is one credit inquiry.
I do not see any mention of the 25k miles on the personal link. Am I missing something? are you sure this is the correct link?

Yes. You'll notice that none of the Citi application forms themselves, such as this one for the current 20k+5k offer, state the bonuses (they are always on the preceding splash page, which is long gone for this offer). I'm sure it's correct, but YMMV as to whether it will still work as expected or not.

Most of the affinity cards are not great for people who maintain balances on them.

No. The majority of Chase apps seem to take a business day or so to process.

I don't think there has been a 25k at sign-up offer from AA this year. The 20k sign-up and 5k at renewal offer still open through this www.fly.citicards.com -as of today. Terms say offer good through 11/30/06. I applied and was approved in about one minute. The first time I submitted the app I got a system error try later message. I re-did the app immediately and it worked.

CitiBusiness Bonus Miles Offer and Multiple Citicards

Recently, UA and Chase have started restricting/stopping multiple credit card application bonus miles. With that in mind...

Currently, I have a AA Citi AAdvantage Platininum World MasterCard that I got in April 2006.

I want to apply for the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® MasterCard® and get the 20,000 bonus miles after $250 in purchases (I realize that another 5,000 miles is available after one year)

Link http://citi.bridgetrack.com/USC/06/m...53D1F1C4D833C1

Can I get the 20,000 mile bonus for the CitiBusiness card?
