Metal flatware back on AA

American announced yesterday metal flatware will return to its premium cabins starting in mid-May with flights from KIX, NRT and PVG. As soon as supply builds in the US, flights to KIX, NRT and PVG will have metal flatware. The company plans to roll out metal flatware to South America and Europe as well, but no time frame was given for that.

Plastic will remain in the coach cabins in all markets. And, there is no plans currently to bring metal flatware back to domestic The new flatware is generic with no AA logo on it.

Makes us wonder what happened to the old flatware.

And, a quick side note for you, the first 767-300ER to get the new J seat is under going reconfiguration as we speak.

Nice to know that we will soon have fine flatware to compliment those wonderful gourmet meals on TATL flights and TPAC flights.

And here's the source for that. What we have here is a conduit for news from Airliners.net. To the OP, thanks but I can read A.net myself if I want. Note that the OP of this thread is NOT the same person that posted the A.net thread.

First of all, I am not related to the users you describe.

Second, how does your post have anything to do with AA? Or metal flatware? Or a reconfigured 763?

Let us know, we're curious.

We? You mean you and your 3 (at least) other FT user-IDs?

Trust me, I know.

A few things; posting styles primarily, the A.net poster has been around a good long while, our "friend's" posting style is nothing like it. Yet, if you look at Xfly,Fly72, Onair and now TopAir you see an amazing similarity.

I don't care who the OP or what other board the information was first posted at, but kudos to AA. May civility creep back in--heck for $4-9,000 tickets, one would expect so!

It's nice to see some service improvement. Maybe after all the strategy of being the preferred airline of the trailer park set is not turning out so well.

We can keep hoping - after all, many airlines DO use metalware on their flights (EI in Premier, for instance.) Nothing at all to do with security, even though that word is invoked as a sacred mantra to justify many a travesty.

I'd agree, but the airliners.nerd post begins "American announced yesterday metal flatware..."

My question is; announced where? Not saying it's not true, but I don't see it having been "announced" anywhere?
