I don't think either offers a smoking area, but you can grab a smoke if you have to walk between them.
From the flagship lounge you go down one floor to the main departure area
Go out past security down one floor
The smoking area is after you go through the exit doors to outside

That's right. They even leave their cigarette butts out on ground out there.

Thankfully, there is no smoking in the FL at LAX.

Well, there wouldn't be as many cigarette butts out there if there was a smoking lounge indoors.

I thought the CA law was based on employment -- no employees ==> smoking allowed. Or is that incorrect?

You could get a shower room in the FL and sneak a puff in there. It's pretty private and I don't think there are any smoke detectors.

Just joking...

That is incorrect.

You will have to exit the terminal for a smoke.

Terminal 6 has an outdoor patio for smoking. Is there one in Terminal 4?

Not too difficult to sneak a cigarette in the "powder room" at the end of the hall where the lounges are located. Lots of smoke and toilet-flushing in those international lounge bathrooms. IIRC no smoke alarms. Just be discreet.....2 puffs and then flush.......

That doesn't answer the question. The question was about lounges.

Does Terminal 4 have an outdoor patio like Terminal 6?

I've never flown AA to LAX, but a friend says she has and said there is an outdoor patio, but she's been known to be wrong before on airline operations (things that we would never mess up, such as aircraft type, seat layouts, or even the airline name ).

Terminal 3 has a smoking patio.

AA used Terminal 3 at LAX for a couple of years for some flights- eg. to SFO.
Maybe that is what she remembers.

No outdoor patio at T4. Terminal 4 is relatively small by major airport standards---only a few (way overpriced) places to eat, one newsstand/gift shop, and the Admirals/Qantas Club.

Thanks, that's probably what she was talking about.

Across from the President's Club in the CO terminal is an outside smoking area. Not sure if you want to walk that far. From the FL, you need to go outside security to the door to the outside stairway down to arrivals level.

No smoking in the CX lounge in the TBIT building. No smoking in the AC/FL. You only chance for a breath of fresh air would be, while walking outside between T4 and TBIT. (I am assuming you connecting AA to CX)

FYI, there is/was an outside garden where you could smoke in T3. Not that AA uses that terminal anymore

And unless you have a boarding pass for a flight out of Terminal 6/7/8, there's no way you can get to that smoking area since it's inside security. There used to be a tunnel connecting terminals 4, 5, and 6, but it closed a few years ago for "security" reasons.
