Gotta love CX. Obviously load dependent, but CX will apparently release up to at least 7 F seats (of the 9 on the 744) for mileage.
Our SFO-HKG this weekend is now showing 4 F mileage seats available in addition to our confirmed 3 F mileage seats.
Following the upgrade of CX's computer systems, availability shown on BA website, or through KVS using BA, does not seem to be accurate. Lots of availability showing, which AA agents can see, but CX won't allow to be booked. I'm trying to book a return from HKG and having real problems.

CX booking system should have been fully operational since 2/14.
I have a HKG-YVR-JFK booked on 2/15 without issue. The CX PNR (now 6 digits as it is Amadeus now) returned in seconds, even the AAgent was surprised.

Not saying it's not working just that its not working properly with BA's site. For instance, BA is showing availability where CX's site shows none for Asiamiles members and where AA, after directly querying CX liason, can't book. On the other hand BA is not showing availability where it appears from CX and JL that it exists.
Definitely some problems with the CX-AA connection. I have been trying to buy revenue tickets on AA codeshares operated by CX and they're all showing zeroed out in all classes every day. I hope this is fixed in the next day or two or I'm going to have to fly on another carrier.

Right now...
Fully operational maybe? Without teething troubles? Hardly,
Take a look over at the CX forum, no one can call through to CX to get anything fixed.
Calling at 4am HK time doesn't help either, you still won't dial through.
I'm losing hair listening to 6 hrs of "I just wanna feel" by Robbie Williams in the last 2 days
Thats the hold music for CX, thats if you can actually get to the hold music right now.
You can book stuff but your better pray you don't have to change anything, especially on the CX side, otherwise you are SOL

As mentioned in the KVS Availability Tool - AA/AADV Thread, the BA Engine was never fully accurate for partner Award Availability on CX, even before the system conversion took place.
While CX Award Availability is supported via 4 different Engines in the KVS Tool, the data from the [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Method is the most authoritative and will match the current Availability that AADV OneWorld partner agents are able to book.

I know that's generally true. But I've found BA to be fairly accurate, and I was tracking availability more than 330 days out, so JL was not useful. I'm hoping JL is having some communications problems as well. Otherwise, CX just pulled a bunch of fairly typical availability from HKG -LAX flights, while adding availability on HKG-SFO flights. And the change coincides with BA method giving poor results. Maybe, CX adopted a new revenue management algorithm when they installed their new system.
Update: I called EXP line to see if they had gotten clearance to ticket the HKG - LAX flights that showed using BA method on KVS and which I had put on hold. AAgent tells me they have a special note to not book any CX flights while CX tries to work out their computer problems. When should I call back? Not sure, but CX has found the problem and is working on solving it. Meanwhile, the HKG-LAX flights are now showing as available using JL, but only as part of a itinerary starting in CGK, DPS or another destination. I hope they clear this mess up soon.

For me the BA site showed First availability on 2 flights to JFK but when I called to book the AA agent said they weren't available. I don't know what the heck is going on there.

It seems CX has new problems starting 02/16 and now they cannot even do ticketing. What a mess. Cannot believe this would happen with CX.
My ressie made on 2/15 still shows as confirmed on CX site. I have till 02/20 to ticket or request the extension of hold. Hopefully by that time CX would have fixed the issue which presumably is caused by loading the wrong files!
Meanwhile CX is losing revenues on a lot business travels originating from HKG in the past few days.
Still can't book revenue tickets on AA codeshares operated by CX. This is insane. When your system "upgrade" isn't working after several days and people can't buy tickets on your airline, don't you revert back to the last known working version at some point?

In the Cathay forum, one LAX-HKG non-stop is reported as being converted to a two class plane in 4q12. My guess is that this will cut F availability.
Just took my first Cathay F flight LAX-HKG. I've had comfortable flights before, but never an enjoyable flight before this one.
By the way, I had to go to the airport an hour early to get a paper ticket issued, because I made a routing change 3 days before departure and e-ticket functionality was not there.
Seems like I was lucky (not unlucky as I originally thought) based on others more recent experiences.

I have an award booked and ticketed for JNB-HKG in F. This route is only served 3x weekly in F.
However, looking at CX schedule it seems the day I originally booked has changed equipment to A343, which doesn't have F. The following day shows 77W as equipment which has F.
What should I do? Should I contact AA (after the CX computer fiasco has been solved) and have them change me to the next day, which doesn't show availability for 2? Or should I ask them to ask the CX Liason to transfer me to the next day since its a schedule change? Any tips and help would be appreciated.

Once ticketed, then CX owns the responsibility for their schedule changes since they are in the best position to adjust. Go to them (CX) first before going to AA and having to negotiate something worse.
Of course if it also means an AA flight change then you will have to go to AA
OK, if the CX system is ever fixed I hope to do JFK-HKG (and on to MNL). I did JFK-HKG last year in First and it was awesome. I'm trying to decide what I want to do this year. It appears that I can get an F award seat but with the stopover in YVR. I'm trying to decide which is better: First with stopover in YVR where everyone must deplane for 1 hour or direct JFK-HKG in Biz. What does everyone here think?
