I read on FT about the routes that eVIPs can be used and it seemed one could use a single one to go from any end of the world to another, as long as it was all on AA metal.
good luck getting to SIN on AA metal (unless you meant "sin" as in LAS )
Sorry, how did you realize that inasmuch as it's not true, in general?
Cheers.
BRP... I would LOVE to be wrong on this! But somewhere on one of these threads there was a FTer saying that he didn't get to use his EVIPs because he was outranked at the last moment by exec plats upgrading with miles or somesuch. If you are saying that EVIPS are confirmed upon booking, I will resume my happy anticipation of my 2MM mark.
I just booked confirmed EVIP Business Class R/T travel on AA for the Spouse and I, LAX - FCO via JFK for Easter next Spring. All four segment flights confirmed and I reserved my preferred seats on AA.com. Tied this in with AAdvantage booking for Bus. Class travel on EL AL, R/T FCO - TLV. Returning from TLV to FCO the night before returning to LAX. Used Hilton Honors points to book that night at the Hilton at FCO. Always maximize using the benefits you work hard to pay for and rightfully earn!
In my experience using EVIP's, the longer out you can book, you'll almost always get your choice of destination on the dates you wish to travel.
Ah.... thanks. There are some trips I just wouldn't take if I thought I had to do them in coach. But it sounds like there is at least the option of far ahead booking and getting confirmation before you plunk your credit card down.

That't not exactly true either. Upgrades using SWUs may be confirmed upon booking if there is availability (C bucket for upgrade to business class, A bucket for upgrade to first), otherwise you will be waitlisted. Your chances to find upgrade availability increase if you book early and if you are flexible with departure time (and day) and your routing.

If the availability is there, you can get often get this confirmed when booking, especially if you are booking well ahead of time and not flying LAX-LHR. If booking ORD-DME, it's usually easy.

Then today is your lucky day b/c you are indeed wrong.
Occasionally there are odd situations/reports where the station has opted to place a revenue upgrade in a premium cabin instead of an eVIP. However, this is is not the rule. It is possible to use an eVIP at the time of booking (I do it all the time). Moreover, if you are waitlisted for an upgrade using an eVIP your upgrade can be cleared at any time, it isn't restricted to the 500 mile/sticker upgrade window of 100/72/24 hours.

Apparently you didn't read the entire thread(s). Yes, there have been posts which describe such an event, but in ever case it has also been pointed out that there is no official policy stating that mile+copay trump eVIPS.

Several of us have said that. Several times.

Ok, I was reading the rule and said that if you have a USA/caribbean address you are going to get 8 stickers (500 miles) after you cross the 2,000,000 mark but if you live in Europe then they will give you 4 EVIP because the stickers are worthless to use it in your place of residence. Are you going to change your address to get the 4 eVIP or Im wrong?

You are wrong. The "rule" you cite is correct for the 1,000,000 mile mark, but for 2,000,000 and every million thereafter, everybody gets 4 eVIPs. Since the OP is crossing the 2,000,000 mile mark, no problem to get 4 eVIPs.

Im telling because my mom got 1 MM last month and she only got 8 stickers. Also she has never been even elite and she only flight 3 or 4 times per year. She has almost 20 years with the Citibank AAdvantage Credit card and I can tell you that more than 90% of all the miles that she had ever had comes from the CC. I was checking her account last month and she was 980,000 lifetime. I had a curiosity of what is going to happen when she reaches the MM so I asked for the CC and shop for her the remaining 20,000. A few days later I logged in and she was GOLD and nothing and about a week ago she got 8 stickers
When I tell her that she can check in in the bussiness class counter and that she is going to have an special line at the screening check point she was very happy. Also I told her that she can sit in first class when there is an empty seat but I know that is not going to happen very often because of all ....

Be sure to tell her, though, that she needs to have enough stickers available to "pay" for the upgrade to the first class seat. Only EXP can upgrade for free.
