Maybe anterograde amnesia from the heady intoxication of getting a very nice miles offer? Congratulations!

Of course, you won't get the AA EShopping bonus, but you'll get the the Citi 2x bonus, and not have to deal with giftcertificates.com.
Sorry if I'm dense, but where is the 2x from Citi coming from? Isn't the cancellation of the double bonus what we've been discussing here? So, buying the GCs from AA directly would NOT result in a 2 for 1. Pray tell me I'm wrong.

The general topic is indeed the cancellation of the 2 AA miles per dollar, effective 3/31/09. The specific topic I was responding to was a discussion of how to capture the 2x rate now for travel later. Since the 2x rate is good until 3/31/09, there was a suggestion to but AA gift cards now, via AA Eshopping, and the hassles of that (fees, delays, etc.) and mention of buying AA gift cards via supermarkets. I was pointing out that AA sells gift cards directly. However, I'm not sure if the Citi bonus applies to gift cards.

I was googling for Citi AAdvantage Visa card offers, looking for US ones (which are extremely hard to find), and it kept finidng Citi AAdvantage Visa card offers from the UK instead. Didn't look to see if they were current, but you might try the same and see what you come up with.

I called and recieved an extra mile for every dollar spent in the next six months up to an additional 10,000 miles (ie. spend $10,000 and earn 20,000 miles. 10,000 regular and 10,000 bonus).

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Citi bonus applies to gift cards purchased on AA.com?

I searched on the website and found no specific exclusion.

So I take it the Starwood AMEX card is better than the Citi AAdvantage AMEX card, even though the latter earns AA miles directly?

I need both a MC/Visa and an AMEX card. Not everyone takes AMEX. Costco ONLY takes AMEX.

Yes, I just looked. The section for comparing which cards are best links back to this thread I started. I guess I helped create my own best answer?

Accumulating AA miles

Is there any other bank credit card that offers AA miles other than Citibank?

Location matters, and you didn't say, so if you are a resident of Trinidad and Tobago, you can get one from Republic

So, I would check out aa.com to see if maybe the AA website might have info on credit cards

There is. However, in a rather unique situation, that Amex/AA branded card is actually issued by Citibank as well.

If you're wanting to earn/accumulate Starpoints based on SPEND rather than churning, the best option is the Starwood Amex. You earn 1 Starpoint per dollar spent, but can transfer multiples of 20,000 Starpoints to get 25,000 AAdvantage miles. That's effectively 1.25 AAdvantage miles per dollar.

Yes had this card for a few years now. Takes about 3 days for the miles to show after you transfer.
