If some child struck me. There would be some PUNISHMENT coming post haste. I dont care if it is your child. If you then want to make an ISSUE out of me punishing your child, I am sure my complaint to the POLICE of assault by your brat which will allow me to find out who you are so you can then be reported to Child Protective Services for Parental Neglect & such.

I have a right not to be assaulted which includes not being poked or prodded by a small child.

Wow. Just wow. I promise you if that had been me I would have grabbed the headphones at a minimum, probably grabbed/poked back and used the bad boy no Santa Claus for you card most definitely. I would have made clear to the parents that they weren't getting the headphones back until the brat got out of my space. And since they may have been a celebrity, I might have taken some pictures for posting on tmz.com ;>>

Where did you move to?

Dear XYZ:

Thank you for contacting Customer Relations via AA.com. We were very sorry to learn of your and your wife's disappointing experience when traveling with us on December XX.

We do not want to infringe upon the rights of anyone, and we try to ensure you are not subjected to uncomfortable situations by other passengers. Unfortunately, as in any public gathering, there may be occasions when a conflict arises between people or when one individual's actions bother another. Frankly, children will be children and I am sorry that the parents in this case were unable to control the situation better. However, since it is not our role to "choose sides," there may be a limit to what our crews can do to improve behavior that is perceived as a nuisance. In the face of any serious disturbance, our crews are trained to diffuse potentially volatile situations so as to ensure the safety and well-being of all our customers and crew members.

While we can appreciate your request for an adjustment of your ticket cost in light of your disappointment, we must respectfully decline. Although we have high service standards, basically our product is transportation. While some elements of a particular flight may be unsatisfactory, we do not routinely provide compensation when transportation is provided. It would be an exceptional situation in any business to give a refund or an adjustment on the price when the entire product is used.

Still, I am truly sorry our inflight personnel were not more successful in ensuring your trip was pleasant and hassle-free. We have shared your comments with those on board and are looking for ways to better handle such difficulties in the future. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Mr. XYZ, we are committed to providing the highest quality service in the industry. Although I know you and your wife were disappointed on this occasion, please do not think that we have lowered our standards in any way.We will always work hard to fulfill your expectations -- and ours.

Sincerely,

L. Brown

Is this REALLY an AA letter? It doesn't sound like the tone of any AA letter I've ever heard about or read. It doesn't read nicely. The tone of the letter is kind of snide, especially the middle paragraph.

I guess you either a. reached the one person in the department who has unruly children, b. she was on your flight with her children , or your letter wasn't specific enough in your compensation demands.

If you should find yourself in such a situation, please let us know how this strategy works out for you.

I think you have a different view of what CPS would consider as Parental Neglect.

And if you punished my brat we'd be seeing what the feds thought the definition of assault really was. Hey, I'm from Texas, and there's just some things you don't do. You don't touch a man's hat. You don't dance too close with his girl. And you don't mess with his kids...

'Course I'll be the first to admit the OP had some crappy parents on that flight. Probably yankees.

I don't think you fully read what he meant by "PUNISHMENT"
He said he was going to file a report with the police and then contact Child Protective Services. He never said he was going to assault anyone.
