I wonder where they would really take you. It basically upstairs to security then the AC?? It may even be longer via cart than walk. Unless they by passed a long security line??

AA did this routinely for all F pax at LHR until 2001 (stopped after 9/11 security changes). Interesting that it is now back; however they could offer it to a tiny fraction of EXPs at LHR (under 1%) so it cannot be an EXP benefit, even unofficial. I've had BA do this in the past 5 years but not AA.
