Not all of it on AA but I'll take this on anyways, I did combined some with 2009 experience

Best - First ever op-up into international first, Jan 2008 CX HKG-YVR, best 11 hr in my life.

Worst - AA MD 80 groundings in April 2008, canceled DFW-ORD, put onto the spare 777 flight, weather in ORD and diverted to STL. Horrible 7hrs, missed connection to BUF, sat outside the G club at ORD during the night to used the wifi.

Funniest
- AS flight in Apr 2008, SEA-YVR, ground crew pull electricity cable too early, whole plane went on emergency power at the tarmac, hearing the captain asking the ground crew plug it bad was just jokes, the whole F cabin laughed their heads off.

- Apr 2009, AA DFW-YVR maintainance people helping in the cockpit got stuck on the plane because they close the door too early and the gate pulled away and the purser tried to pound the door to get the GA to notice

- having the FA guessing your profession and the answer being completely off. FA guess I was some hotshot CEO flying F/J when I'm just in college

Weirdest
- Somewhat, connected to the worst one, havent flown into or connect STL in 7 yrs and stay there for an hr in apr, only to come back on a CFC connection in Nov for 20 mins. I'm actually finally going to go to STL this week for a couple days this time

- for the second yr in a row, op-up to first on CX in Jan 2009 HKG-YVR

- Apr 2009, AA YYZ-LGA trail mix loaded on the plane had AC logos????

My most surreal moment on AA came flying JFK-SJU on an evening flight on the A300. In spite of everything that I read here - I was absolutely fine with the aircraft, space and though the entertainment was a bit old tech what was shown quite amused me (No I cannot remember what it was - sorry).

After all the injunctions here, I carefully had selected the rear seats in good FEBO fashion. Boarding was a bit of a scramble as there had been snow and they were running late as it was. There were no pre-flight drinks which - whilst pleasant - was no problem as we had come from the Admiral Lounge and been given drinks in there.

Sure enough the very personable Purser (or Lead FA) came for the meal orders. There was a choice of fish or pasta. We chose fish. I adore the stuff. Off she went and more drinks were produced. They had the big bottles of "champagne" so I was happy and plenty of Jack Daniels for Him Indoors so he was Jacking and Gingering fit to burst.

Suddenly the FA appeared with a most serious look on her face.

" I am so so sorry" she said. I thought that they had discovered rats on the tray a la Baby Jane and the meal was not going to happen.

"We have a problem" she began" My colleague has just taken the first of the meals out of the oven and they have not loaded fish. It's chicken. Again I am so sorry"

I just burst out luaghing - she looked as though she was announcing a medical emergency. Neither of us cared one hoot let alone two. Meals on aircrafts are a way of passing the time and alleiviating a little hunger. It is hardly a gastronomic experience. She was relieved beyond belief. The others that she went to were similarly unconcerned. I told them that we have meals loaded with menus and one has nothing whatsoever to do with the other. I have had to write one out by hand before now - for F and have this passed around the cabin.

My worst? Oh being stuck at DFW flying to HNL and being stuck out on the taxiways waiting for a thunderstorm to pass. Hardly AAs fault but I have never seen quite such a storm in a long time and there were actually a lot of people who were quite afraid. I was in F - and I felt to sorry for the Y passengers who did not even get their lunch and who had a rather long flight ahead of them.

How did I miss this thread!

Highlight of the Year: Older than 20, younger than 30, Bimbo gets on late. Assigned 3B. 6 inch, knock me down and have your way with me heels, short skirt that was just barely decent, tight top that accentuated her after market parts, blond hair with the ever so trendy dark roots. Has: Purse, probably faux designer, large probably faux designer rollerboard (oversize), computer case, and 4th bag. Looks at full overheads. I'm in 3E.

Her: "Would you please pull those two bags over your head out so I can put mine up?"

Me: "Excuse me?"

Her: Repeats previous statement.

Me: "No thank you. Those are my bags."

Her: "So? My bags have to go there."

Me: "I think you might be mistaken. I believe that the bins are shared space."

Her: "I don't know where you think you get your information, but I'm an Advantage gold, and I demand you make room for my bags!"

Me: "No thank you."

Her: (to whole 1st class) "Aren't ANY of you gentlemen going to help a lady?"

Seat 3A: "I sure all of the gentlemen on board would be more than happy to help a lady.......if we saw one."

Laughter/applause. After heated discussion with FA, Big Bag gate checked with an admonition: "I want your name, so if you send it somewhere else, I'll have your job!"

FA: "Right now, you can have it!"

laughter/applause again. Bimbo sits, arms crossed whole trip, silent.
