Weirdest: On a CDG-ORD-LAX trip in Feb, we came into ORD where there was a big storm (big surprise). Walked into the overcrowded transit area for AA and saw the Departures board: every AA flight out of ORD was canceled. After a long wait in the line, the AAgent said that all flights to LAX were canceled and they booked us on the next flight and offered us a hotel room. I asked, "Are you sure there are no flights to LAX?" After a couple minutes of typing on the computer, she handed us boarding passes for a ORD-LAX flight one hour later.

Best: AUS AC AAngels, the EXP desk, taking advantage of EXP (OW Emerald) perks on OW partners.

Most ironic: I did an MR during AADER to re-qualify for PLAT. I was just going to barely make it. Then at the end of the year, I had multiple unexpected last minute trips to Asia that brought me up well over EXP and AADER bonus level.

Yup, that story sounds very familiar.

Funniest: during an MR run, came off the plane, turned around, got stand by for an earlier returm, and 20 minutes later was back in the same exact seat heading back (trying to cover my face with a newspape when I reliaze it's the same crew). Same FA comes by with beverages, stares at me for a while, says "weren't you on the flight coming in"? I looked at her like she's the weird one, said "no, you must be mistaken". She shrugged and moved on..

Best: I'll second some overall praise for AA this year. I had a very good year with them - all domestic flights upgraded, all eVIPs I wanted cleared, op-up upgrade on ORD-DEL, no serious delays, no lost luggage. After lots of issues in 2007, 2008 was definitely problem free.

maybe if you answered my call button instead of fussing around then
passengers wouldn't have to get drinks for themselves." So then she says
that I'm not supposed to be in the galley for "security" reasons. And I'm
reaching for my pen to write down a name when my gf intervenes and is like
"Edwin, this isn't the airline lounge...he's very sorry!"
Funny story - almost as funny the second time as it was the first time I read it.

But of course, that was before Edwin P Morales joined FT, so you couldn't have known it was already posted, could you?

What an interesting response.

So the premise is that people should not be expected to know about posts that occured before they joined?

It will be interesting to see this concept applied to new posters, who presumably will not be ridiculed for not knowing something has been posted before.

Starting now I presume?

I think the OP premise was that postings would be 2008 moments of our own and not plagiarised.

'Twas an homage.

had to try hard to keep from cracking up. i tell myself that i'll pull a stunt like that and hit on an attendant sometime but obviously it'll never happen.
Now that's funny

Best FA story-My family was sitting in the gate area waiting for a DFW-HNL flight. An FA is in the waitng area as well sitting close by. We had just picked up meals at McDonalds and started eating when they announced boarding. As we got up to board, my 5 year old daughter spilled her entire meal and started to cry. We decided to board and share our meals. When we arrived at our seats and were putting away our carryon's, the same FA walks up to our seat and hands us a brand new Happy Meal she had just purchased on her own. We thanked her but she quickly steped away to let the boarding process continue. She stepped away before we could get information from her or pay her for the meal. After the isle cleared I went to the galley to find the FA but was told she was not on this flight but rather she was dead heading to OKC and was just awaiting her flight when she came to our rescue.

Baggage Service- On my first day as a new EXP we landed in HNL, Walter from Baggage Service was waiting for us by the carrosel. He indicated one of our bags did not make it and was on a flight from LAX. It turns out none of our bags had made the flight and we were soon connecting on HA to Maui. We filled out the reports and I was sure we were in for a rough couple days. That night while at dinner Walter called me on my cell phone and told me he had 4 of my 5 bags and what HA flight he had put them on. He identified which bag was comming in the next day so we plan accordingly. That evening the bagage office in OGG called me, at Walter's request, and said he had just loaded them onto a taxi and we would have them within the hour. The next day we got simlar phone calls and once again they placed our final bag in a taxi and we had it within an hour of our arrival.

Awesome story. Awesome FA.

Upon returning from a rather horrific travel trip to Slovakia where my luggage did not show up, thanks to Terminal 5 in London, I was paged by a woman standing next to the baggage claim belt in ORD. I approached her still wearing the clothes I had on when I left four days prior. She said ' Mr. Goin-2-AA, thanks for your continued business with American. How was your trip?'
I could only stare her in the eyes for 15 seconds without saying a word. She then said ' I figured that would be your response!'

Funny now...not so much then.

I took a deep breath and told the CA "I haven't slept in 2 days and am heading home for a funeral, is there any way you can give me a window seat so I can prop my head against the bulkhead and try to sleep." (That was the truth)

She typed away for a few minutes and then handed me a boarding pass for a window seat, in business class.

Now I am pretty sure they were looking for some folks to op-up, but I was a very happy camper!

THANK YOU AA!
just wondering, will AA sometimes free of charge upgrade you to business class if seats are available? how does this work?
