Two questions ...
1. So I moved to NYC from London seven months ago. Maintaining my BA Gold (GGL)/OneWorld Emerald status is important to me, so when I have flown AA (sometimes coach, sometimes business, sometimes first) I use my BA card. Question: how can I get to EP level super-quickly?
2. Before Christmas I was flying SEA/JFK in F. Flight was eventually cancelled (after three hours on the tarmac), and I legged it across the airport to get an Alaska flight to LAX and then to JFK from there (proper domestic first). Arrived home at 1am the following day instead of 5pm the same day plus lots of hassle/close connections. Then yesterday I was due to fly SKB/JFK (business) at 5.50pm - eventually left at 10am this morning. Can I ask for some kind of compensation/miles? If so, to whom should I address all of this?

The quickest route to EXP would be to purchase the "prepaid travel card" [if AA offers them this year] It costs $25,000 US but it comes w/instant EXP status.
Barring that, you need to fly on AA earning flights. High fare tickets (paid F/J) will get you 1.5 pts/mile so 67,000 BIS will = EXP.

Hi there...
assuming you mean EXP (executive platinum) quickly, there are only two ways...
Fly a lot or fly expensive.
You can figure out with farecompare where AA flies to from NYC that is cheap to rack up the miles. and just spend a good week or two flying and you will have 100 segments.
Or fly a few times to Europe for the things you forgot to pack and get 14,000 miles roughly per trip. You should spend some time in the MR forum and learn how to route yourself like this: JFK-BOS-ORD-LAX-DFW-MIA-MAD-LHR
Or a few F/J class seats will get you there too, I think you need about 67,000 miles that way.
On the compensation part, there is a thread on that too. But the short of it is... email customer service, be polite, and tell them what you would like to have done.. bonus miles or voucher...
Good Luck

Fastest way I know of to E(X)P is 5 round trips LHR-LAX in 1.5 points/mile classes on 5 consecutive days. Note, you would have to use your AA card to get AA status. If you decide to do this, please post a trip report.

I am not sure if it the point was made...you have to use your AA number and not your BA number. Once you do that, then you are on your way to EXP.
While they won't comp you EXP (the Emerald equivalent) a call to AA may result in a Platinum/Sapphire match or the offer to do a challenge to get to Platinum quicker. Check the stickies for more details.

No offers are needed for a challenge. You just call them, tell them you wnat to do a challenge, and pay the fee.

Unless there has been anomalous continental drift the last few hours, LHR-LAX is around 5,400 miles, so five round trips at 1.5 EQP/mile would net around 81,000 EQP.

Not that I have $25k to drop, but I had never heard of this before. Thanks for the heads up.

Quite right. I started by thinking of advantageous routings (like lax-mia-lhr) that would enable one to make EXP with 5 round trips, then made an unwarranted mental leap to the non-stop for the number of days required. The advantageous routings cannot be completed round-trip in 24 hours. To do the non-stop would get one EXP on the outbound of the 7th trip.

Winter is a good time for MRs to CA. From NY it's very hard to get the 2-3cpm runs, but I'm doing JFK-SFO-JFK in Feb for $220 ai (that's about 4.5cpm). I could have routed it through LAX for the same price and gotten an extra 1k miles, but I've opted to have lunch in SF with a friend instead.
