I'm a United flyer and have never flown AA before, but for our honeymoon, fiance and I are booked on AA out of BWI down to Miami (6am to 8:30am) and then on to St. Lucia (10:30 am depart). We're flying coach and food is offered for purchase.
I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of food and the quality and price of it is. I did a forum search, but it seems most of the discussion is of the menu in First Class.
We have a 2hr layover in Miami so we can grab stuff there instead.
You'd have a better selection eating during your layover in Miami.
Most definitely. Even good airline food is just airline food. And the food for purchase (while not bad, for what it is) is not the top of the line airline food. You will do far better in MIA as there are some quite nice food options there. La Carreta, just outside 'D' security, IIRC, comes to mind.
Thank you all! We'll eat in BWI (since we have to be there at 4am anyway...oh wait, nothing in the airport is OPEN at that ungodly hour grrrr) and then in Miami. I'll save the cash for the drinks!
Just junk like cookies, not even a breakfast sandwich. Suggest that you pack a small snack for the way down until you get to MIA. One thing, I do not recommend going outside of Security for food between flights. There are a number of small kiosks in Concourse D that serve fruit and yogurt.

There is a Starbucks in Concourse E.
I haven't been to Miami airport in a awhile = are you saying you have to go through security to get to a different concourse?

No, but if you go to a food establishment outside of Security (as suggested) the Security Lines at MIA, particularly in the morning, can be a nightmare. And if you do not have status with AA you could be stuck in a long line with non English speaking paxs that have no clue as to what to do when they reach the Security checkpoint.
But also be aware that it is quite a hike between C,D,and E Concourses (which are all connected within Security and serve AA).
