Ok, don't jump down my throat...I'm new at this. Following the buyback thread, people suggest that achieving status via a challenge doesn't effect ability to purchase status. Tried to do that following online link and I get a message that I don't qualify for this program. Any advice?'

That's the way it was in past years. Before this year's offer was released, people (me included) suggested it might be that way again, unless the rules changed. Unfortunately for those in your situation, AA did tighten up the buyback program this year and those who earned status via a challenge are not eligible.

Afaik there's not anything you can do to help the situation, except fly enough to earn status this year.

that's too bad. I'm on the same boat and i'd be happy to buy back the status. oh well
