Not only did you not have a seat to sit in, you don't have a leg to stand on. Flight Attendants do not get involved in the upgrade process, nor should they. (Yes there are cases in which some flight attendants have upgraded passengers, but those are rare.)

Upgrades are not guaranteed so I don't understand how you were "denied" the upgrade. Rather you did not receive it so I don't see that as compensation worthy. As for not moving you up the second time, Flight attendants really are not responsible for this decision, it is up to the gate agent.
As for the mechanicals, etc... in my experience, AA automatically offers miles for these issues. I had a significant delay about a week ago and rec'd an email today noting that add'l miles had been posted to my account.
This may be one of those situations where AA provides compensation for the delay on its own initiative. It does sound like the problem was handled well by the crew; if I were you, I'd contact AA to compliment the crew rather than to complain about the delay. And as has been noted about the upgrade, flight attendants are not authorized to upgrade passengers on board the aircraft.

I missed the line mentioning free food. I may have to reconsider my first response. What type of food was served? If it was chicken fried steak, or something of that quality, then indeed the OP deserves compensation.

Since it was explicitly mentioned as food, the choices you indicated are not applicable.

The part I focused on was alcoholic beverages . At $37 per drink or whatever usurious amount they're charging nowadays, you can easily drink yourself to an appropriately compensated disposition.
Thanks for all the fast answers.
The crew was great all the time, no complains at all knowing now that they don't have access to my request for the upgrade.
It was just that seing all those nice seats empty...

They grab some things at the airport and give on the plane. The first ones get sandwich, others crackers with cheese. I was at the front and they started in te back, so when they arrive I got a bag of nachos. Somebody behind me a chocolae chip. Another one a Lays chips.
I think the biz ones got sandwich and chips.

I think they are charging $6 each and no $37, but anyway the man besides me ask for a whisky and received two bottles for free.
I don't drink much alcohol. The cosmopolitan I got at the admirals club before the flight was enough for me the day.

That leads back to the "Why do FAs hide so much?" threads. They don't come around enough in First to get drunk, let alone steerage!

...On the flight free food and alcoholic beverages were given to coach passangers.

I have found AA CS very pro-active the past year or 2 with compensation miles. Most recently, an FCO-JFK flight that was about 4 hours late (thankfully I was staying at the attached Hilton ) resulted in 5000 miles added to my account, w/o asking, within a week.
Seeing that my example does not hold a light to yours, I would expect you to hit your next million before the end of the month

Does anybody know, why FA could start to serve not from the front? Is there really no written policy about?
