Double what I received for a busted NGBC seat (obvious wiring issue that left my seats controls inop, but when ever the person next to me adjusted their seat, mine would recline, then raise up again several times before stopping in an ackward position).
Not to make light of your plight - but this did make me smile. I got an image of a not very nice brat sitting next to you making your life h*ll for a long flight.
On the OP: 10k seems about right. Tray table, reading light on, and an inop IFE are nothing like a seat that doesn't recline.

Is mileage the only compensation seek-able in a situation like this?
On a recent ORD-DUB flight, upgraded via eVIP to J, the J seat was inoperable. Volunteered to take a ORD-LHR flight leaving 30 min. later, was confirmed in J on that, and rec'd an $800 voucher.

This reminds me of the time two years ago that my miles+copay upgrade cleared at the gate for LHR-LAX. I boarded the 777 and discovered that my assigned seat 9G was covered with masking tape and labeled "needs repair".
Fortunately, 9E was unoccupied (unusual in August) and the FA told me to take that seat instead.
Not very good teamwork by the GA/maintenance crew to assign me to a bad seat, but.... all's well that ends well.
btw - AA137 is my fave... doesn't leave too early, some lunch with a bit of wine, then a nice long nap, and back to Calif. by mid-day.
I was totalled surprised to receive an unsolicited 15k AA for an IFE problem in "J" on the 777 DFW-ORD AA86. They must have thought I was continuing on to LHR.

In the DFW Metroplex area, I think they would charge you for that, at least if you weren't buying drinks.
(Seriously, Recaro should have their engineers put in stocks! Where? In Terminal D at DFW!)

Flying PHL-MIA-MCO. PHL-MIA segment (scheduled at 11:30am) is delayed 2 hours due to inbound mechanical. Once inbound lands, cannot pull to gate for 1 hour due to T-Storms. Once pulls to gate, announced mechanical problem and 6:00 pm departure. I wait in 1 hour line to talk to GA, who cannot put me on a flight on another airline. I'm issued $10 food voucher. I head to AC and buy one day pass. Agent is able to book me on 3:40 US Airways flight to MIA connecting to AA MIA-MCO. I run through security to Term C just in time to make flight (which was running about 30 min late). Flight is delayed 2 hours on runway due to backup of planes from earlier weather. Flight lands in MIA and I sprint from US Airways terminal to AA and back through security. Missed connecting flight. I head to AC and rebooked on last flight of day. I'm issued unsolicited drink voucher and told that upgrade will not have sticker deducted. Flight delayed 30-45 minutes due to inbound a/c. Land in MCO at 11:15 pm (about 6 hours after originally scheduled flights). Wrote to AA and requested ORC and compensation for mechanical delay. Received 4,000 miles. I think this might be a little light due to length of delay, having to go through security 4 times, GA not being helpful resulting in $50 out of pocket for AC, and compensation for similar mechanical delays from talking to other people. I was hoping for 8,000-10,000 miles or a $200 voucher. I may or may not call back and request additional miles. If anyone had the patience to read all of this, thoughts on requesting additional comp?
My fiance and I were scheduled to fly LAX-ORD-SYR for a friend's wedding. The LAX-ORD flight was delayed due to weather, and we missed the ORD-SYR connection. The best they could offer us was a ORD-ROC flight (a 30 minute longer drive to Ithaca, where the wedding was). The rental car ended up costing about $130 more due to the fact that it was a one-way rental. I am an Aadvantage member, but I don't have status. Should I ask for compensation? How should I go about doing this? Please help.

Since it was a weather related delay, AA doesn't owe you any compensation. And personally, I think the agent(s) should be commended for finding a route which enabled you to make the wedding.
Fwiw, had it been me, I'd have requested a reroute from ROC on the way home. That way the car could have been returned without incurring the one one-way fee.

Actually, I was the one who suggested the rerouting. The only thing the agent recommended was that we each take separate flights into Syracuse since there was one seat on each on a 9:55am flight and a 2:55pm flight.
Also, I'm not 100% sure it was weather. Someone called to tell me the LAX flight wasn't going to leave on time. When I asked, she said it was mechanical. But, when we got to the airport, the agent at the check in desk mentioned that there were weather problems in chicago, so I assumed that meant the flight was delayed due to weather. Is there any way to find out for sure?? Anyway, thanks for the advice about the car rental, I should have thought of that.
