Earning / Burning AA miles on QANTAS / QF Premium Economy (consolidated)
Has anyone flown QF PE and, if so, what miles did you earn?
Based on AA.com and according to AAdvantage Customer Service, PE on QF, which books into T or W (the same as BA) earns zero miles. Nil, none, zippo, zilch. Anybody have any actual experience?

What crAAp! They probably haven't even thought about updating the informational database they are working from, as this makes no sense at all, given they are awarding full miles and 1.5 EQP for B and Y. But hey, who said "airlines" and "rational" ever worked in the same sentence?
I would guess when it all comes out in the wash, that it will mimic the Miles/Qpoint earning for Premium Economy on British Airways
Miles = 100% + 10% & QP ratio = 1.50
Of course, until it's documented so it may not be the case.
That's what I was (albeit sub-conciously) assuming until, having started to set up a RTW ticket involving QF PE, I went to look to see - to find to my horror that T and W simply weren't there on the page on AA.com - and if they're not there, then it's no miles.
Makes no sense I know but having had an issue a couple of years ago with QF earning rates on Red-E Deal tickets, I know better than to try and ask AA again (the cheaper ones earn miles, the more expensive ones don't - go figure). Unless I can actually get to the person who's responsible for the interaction with QF on the issue, I think all I'm likely to get (like last time) is boilerplate responses about how "QF determines the mileage to be awarded" - yes, I know that, but what is the logic for giving me 50% miles for a ticket booked in L - and then when I pay $1,000 to upgrade it to PE, giving me no miles at all?
I'll try an email to AA and see what they say ....
Or they could do something nasty like JL PE. Discounted PE (E class) only earns 70% mileage and 1x EQP, while Full Fare PE (W class) only earns 100% but 1.5 EQP.
I received a very prompt reply from AAdvantage Customer Service in response to an email and also talked to them on the phone. No miles on QF premium economy tickets (even if you buy a 'full fare' PE ticket). Caveat emptor.

I hope that is just a short term issue until they realise the premium cost associated with QF's premium economy and realise that this is an omission and not a plan.

NM, to whom are you referring when you say "they"? It's up to QF to decide how many miles they're prepared to 'buy' from AA. Apparently they have decided that a premium economy ticket (even a full fare one booked in W) isn't worth any miles. The best the AA person I spoke to could offer was that QF apparently consider it some sort of 'discount business' ticket and therefore not worthy of any miles. I was hoping that it was merely an oversight and AA.com hadn't been updated. Apparently not - a deliberate decision on QF's part.
[The flight in question is QF30 LHR-HKG-MEL. It can also be flown as a BA codeshare, so I guess we may be flying BA7318 instead of QF30....)

Its probably up to AA in the first place to realise that QF now has a premium economy product and that they need to begin the negotiation process with QF to determine the rate at which QF will buy the AA miles for someone purchasing the ticket. QF will not be proactive in this process. AAdvantage will have to start the process.

Whew, and this was just before I was about to purchase my first LAX-SYD ticket on the A380! Thanks for the thread guys, I guess I'll hold off buying this ticket until the AA guys can get this thing is resolved.
Qualifying miles, points, and segments on British Airways and their oneworld affiliate airlines count toward AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum®, and AAdvantage Gold® status and bonuses. ...
I believe it would have to be operated by a oneworld airline, but would not count if operated by a non-oneworld airline? And, would earn according to AAdvantage BA listed rules? I'll certainly welcome correction if this is incorrect.
The challenge as I see it would be the rules that govern how codeshares are booked; I don't think I can book an AA codeshare, e.g. LHR-PRG or LHR-OTP, unless it is connecting from AA (or to AA on the return,) so it may be difficult to book, say, a straight LAX-SYD as BA - I am sure other more knowledgeable members will enlighten.
