The difference is you are not locked into paying the annual fee to get that last 5K.
Anyway--is there a specific URL you guys are using? I'm just going to citibusiness.com and applying there. I put in an email address and close the window--and it just closes. The offer I see there is the one with 20K + 5K on your one-year anniversary + companion cert.

yeah probably should have included the link originally. Glad some are finding it useful. After several years of lurking figured I should finally start contributing around here

OK--I need some schooling on technique. I go to the page in Firefox, type in my email address, then clock the X at the upper right of the browser to close it. I see the pop-up blocker prompt come up for a moment but then the browser closes completely. If I try in IE it just closes.

alright not sure in firefox but IE I just made sure my pop up blocker was off and it worked fine. Also just to clarify you dont obviously have to put in your email addy I just used that as an example. The first time I tried it I had the whole app filled out then tested it with just a few characters in the email space. I wish I could help but it was pretty straight forward with my times trying it.

How long for Citi Business miles to post?
YES, I DID run a search, but I did not find a thread discussing how long it takes for the Citi Business card miles to post.
I recently signed up for a Citi Business card (missed the 40k promotion by less than a month).
My statement closed 05/23. I am due a huge pile of miles, including my 20k bonus and the miles I earned.
Today is 6/4, and the miles have not yet posted. I also have a regular personal Citi card, and the miles usually post very quickly after my statement closes.
Should it be taking this long for the Citi Business card? Is it because it's the initial posting? Or is it likely that they screwed up and opened a new account for me? (which might be the case because there's something on my Citi statement that says "Rewards--AAdvantage Miles Update--Current Mileage Balance: 0"). I've heard it's a gigantic pain to get AAdv CS to combine the accounts, so I'm hoping this is not the case.

I think you and I both signed up at the same time. My first statement was 5/23. I called when the miles didn't show up last week. They had created a new aadvantage account, so your suspicion is correct. But it wasn't really a problem getting it fixed. Just call the Citi Business number on the back of your credit card. They can tell you the Aadvantage number they gave you. Then call Aadvantage customer support. They will merge the new account into your old one. They tell you that you won't be able to access your account online for 48 hours, but I was able to get on in about 30 hours.
Anyway, when you do log in to your account, you'll see your 20k miles PLUS your double miles on the first statement will already be there. (The way I read the T/C, the double miles wouldn't post UNTIL you reached the first 5,000 in purchases) So that was a nice suprise.

Thank you for the info! I'm on the phone waiting for AAdv CS at the moment. Sadly, there's no way to jump the queue as PLT, unlike with reservations.
The Citi rep explained to me that AA doesn't actually "merge" the accounts. Instead, AA sets it up so that ALL miles reported to the new account get sent over to the old account. Apparently, Citi cannot make any changes in reporting once the account is established, so AA has to do it on its end.
He also explained that this problem happens all the time because a computer compares your Citi credit application to your AAdvantage account data. If even one little thing doesn't line up (for example, my middle initial is not on my AAdvantage account, but is on my Citi card), then the system makes you a new account.
It's a pain, but I guess, with the number of accounts created every day, it wouldn't be financially viable to have a human being compare names and accounts.
I have had both the AA Gold and Bronze Citi credit cards. I have not been able to find a program that will give me double miles for all AA ticket purchases.
I'm looking for something similar to what United and Northwest does on their credit card programs when you purchase a ticket at each respective airline with the respective card.
Is it normal for Citi to take 6-12 days to send out a new card (to replace a lost one)?
Rep said I could pay $15 to have it in 1-2 days; I declined. I assumed that a credit card company would want the card in the user's hand as quickly as possible so that fees from purchases continue to be accrued.

Yeah, unfortunately I've heard this one before... you have to pay extra to "rush order" a card... what a farce :P

Remember the flyertalk mantra. If you don't get the answer you like from the CSR, give a polite thank you, hang up,and call back. Repeat until you get the answer you want. I have gotten cards expedited at no charge--as recently as two weeks ago.
